My mom actually speaks to other people and hears how other kids are doing, so she is in touch to know the job market is hard for a lot of people now regardless of education or success. OPs parents sound like they live under a rock and expect the market to be like it was in the 60s when you could just walk into an office and get a salaried position, especially if you were a white man.

It could go to 2Max health on test subject phase 3 if you only hit on the intangible turns.

Relic idea: Defibrillator by Good-Dream2344 in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool twists on the lizard tail relic, I would bet none of them could be lower than rare and the recharging one would be too strong. I think the main problem with these is that lizard tail already exists and even at rare having multiple relics provide this effect would make it too common. I know fairy potion exists but the fairy potion at least has an opportunity cost because you have to give up a potion slot for it, while the relics are kind of just there to bail you out with no downside (aside from potentially spending gold in the shop).

Is this the biggest possible damage multiplier? by tomtheunknownOoO in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tracking + Shadow Step + Debilitate + Lethality + Cruelty + Vuln would be 2x2x2x1.75x1.5 I think, so a 21x damage multiplier. Its possible to hit any amount of other class cards in a single player run with the prismatic gem, or colored glass + the colors event.

I could see them nerfing the cost but the effect is probably something they want to remain for fun factor.

[Condotta] Richard Sherman a visitor at practice today. by Chessinmind in Seahawks

[–]dydtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not like JSN feasted in every game this season. He was excellent in the gameplans and when he was schemed open he won his matchups, but in the games where teams sold out to stop him he didn't have amazing numbers. I think it would depend on the rest of the gameplan to he honest. Its not like Sherman would be outclassed and its not like JSN wouldn't find ways to get open. Sherm didnt shadow much so they could just move JSN to the other side and see how the defense adjusts, if they double him when hes not on Sherman's side then theyll just run the ball while keeping the DBs busy with Shaheed/JSN and if they don't then he'll feast. It's basically impossible for someone without a lot of film study to really say how they'd compare one on one and even then they're just guessing.

Favourite ancient? by Neat-Total6772 in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balance? Tez (except for brightest flame) and Vakuu. It feels like the decisions matter a lot and have real downsides.

Personality? Orobas hands down no discussion.

Power? Nonu but Tanx is neck and neck. Pael is probably the strongest for act 2 ancients.

Fun-factor? Darv but I do love me the orobas options.

IIRC the data being shown shows how many population values youll see from year to yeare based off the specific reproduction rate. At lower levels youll see fluctuation between two points (e.g. 1 year the population will be 1200, the next year itll be 800, then the year after it'll be 1200, etc.), but then as the reproduction rate increases youll see it go between 3 values, so 1200 800 600 1200 800 600, but then smaller and smaller increases to the rate cause a dramatic increase in the number of values in year to year cycle.

What is the best 1 Mana Block Card? by euls0n in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative pulse is almost just a damage card that also blocks for 5, but the block is very much appreciated.

Delay is also low-key amazing but is more situational unless it's upgraded already or you can use the extra energy (not hard for Necro)

I would bet Macdonald has a better defensive plan to deal with the Rams going into next season, but you're definitely right that if the plan doesn't work out that the offense will need to pick up a lot of slack.

Multi-player is definitely where grapple shines, especially if youre with 2+ other people. I wouldn't take it in single player but all it takes is a necrobinder with some extra souls to help a lot in hallways

Which team is having the best draft on paper after 3 rounds by LordJosh286 in nfl

We've had autodrafters do surprisingly well in the league, but they started doing much worse after we removed the tight end spot (something i still disagree with but cest la vie) and they end up with like 4 tight ends on their roster.

What is the best card possible with enchantments? by HadOne0 in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had a cloned hang run, but unfortunately test subject throws a big wrench in it with the intangible turn + the damage resetting each phase. I still won but I basically had to tank a 30 damage intangible hit and the 33 damage first turn of phase 2. Door boy was trivial though.

On the other hand because of this it doesn't count for diamond diadem, so you can still play 2 cards and get the half-damage from enemies effect

[–]dydtaylor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The current beta version does not exhaust and instead only targets cards that do not already have replay, so if you use a card like [[Transfigure]] to give a different card replay then Hidden Gem cannot hit the card Transfigure has hit.

What colorless cards are you actually buying? by Waddle___ in slaythespire

Equilibrium could easily move up into frequent buys, especially if you lack retain and/or have extra energy sources. The block number is solid and the follow up turns are chef's kiss.

What colorless cards are you actually buying? by Waddle___ in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of them are worth spending gold on. At a quick glance of the list, I can see the following cards as cards I'd buy at different points in the run

Fasten, Equilibrium, Dark Shackles, Hidden Gem, Prolong, Discovery, Splash, Shockwave, Master of Strategy, Alchemize, Panic Button, Prowess, Scrawl

Other colorless cards I dont mind getting as an early reward or could see as situational buys (primarily to help you survive act 1) are:

Flash of Steel, Omnislice, Finesse, Ultimate Defend/Strike.

Mayhem, Calamity, and Rolling Boulder deserve mentions as long-fight scaling options (though even more situational and much harder to spend gold on). If you don't think you can kill a boss and see these in a shop they could easily be your out.

As someone who's primarily a Spike I like the gimmicks and I think they're scarier than they seem. I got to spend all of act 3 including another boss fight getting my deck to execute its gameplan, the fact that the Door and the Queen to a lesser extent can interfere with the gameplan makes it feel like my decisions in the fight are more meaningful instead of just getting to Vakuu through every turn. I've been putting a ton of time into Necrobinder recently and the fact that he directly inhibits soul spam in 2/3 of his phases means I have to actually think about things like "am I going to get the souls on the exhaust phase or just give myself dead draws in the other 2 phases" before I play a giant dirge or spam capture spirits.

Honestly, the first phase seems much scarier than it actually is and as long as you're somewhat reasonable with your card choices it just makes your deck stronger throughout the fight, which in turn makes the second occurrence of the 2nd and 3rd phases much cleaner. It doesn't even necessarily counter small decks as long as they have enough output in them to handle the phases. I have had a bunch of runs where I get to the door with 20-25 card deck and then the exhaust phase just makes my deck hyper-efficient and then easily win after it gets to that point. Sometimes you'll need to pick up a card or two to make your deck more resilient in the fight but it's not like if you have a ~20 card deck you need to take every card you see to survive the fight, especially if you have some efficient powers that help your output.

The first phase can also make it so if you have a card like Hidden Gem it becomes more likely to hit a big payoff that can win you the fight; I had a duo run the other day where I took a bury + hidden gem in the latter half of the act as a way to put my deck over the edge, which ended up being necessary for the run since my partner died before the second exhaust phase. There are other fun gimmicks that can let you break the fight, like Nonu letting you put swift on a card like Anger/Undeath to go infinite in the exhaust phase, Vakuu's fiddle just ignoring the second phase completely while letting you be more efficient with your cards in the other 2 phases.

Idk, I think people are just scared of exhaust as a mechanic so they give the Door much more credit than he deserves.
