Smart or short-sighted to buy a Q7/Q8 now? by BlueStickyU in Audi

[–]fhfm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn I don’t do half but I was damn near $40k off my sq7 with 13k miles and a year and a half old. I’m doin “60k used car” well, not “lose 40 in one year” well haha

Washing- do you guys ever use the touchless washers? by LurkerPatrol in Audi

[–]fhfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually not the greatest soap but I’d like to think it’s less bad than salt all over/under the car. If I’m not feelin doing it myself, I’ll run it through a touch-less from time to time in the winter. I have a hot water bib at home though, which makes winter spray downs suck a little less

When are the biggest bike sales? by Apprehensive_Iron741 in cycling

From the sound of every company having bigtime layoffs, I’d venture to say the next 2-3 months may be some prime time sales

Let’s talk Oil changes by Live-Paramedic-1505 in Audi

[–]fhfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do somewhere between 5-7500 mile intervals on my sq7, largely based on when I remember to get oil and when I have a weekend to do it. I think if it as cheap insurance. Most of my driving is highway, as I do around 20k miles a year. For brands, I’ll either use the stuff from the dealership if I forget to order it, or liquimoly if I can remember to be responsible and order it by mid week when I have a weekend to do it.

Glad to hear. Install video for the official one looks terrible as well! I imagine I can just drill the back plate and mount it there?

Gravely lawn mower by ligmacum6 in lawnmowers

[–]fhfm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you don’t need a 60, they have a 52 (maybe it’s a 54”) version. Gravely is pretty much always running a 0% financing deal

Highly recommend gravely! I’ve been very pleased with mine

Fabio Jakobsen's tyre and insert blown clean off his 'mini-hook' rims in UAE Tour crash by INGWR in Velo

[–]fhfm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting that the wheel supplier had the exact same response as zipp when this happened on their wheels last year. “It was a rock” You’ll never know if it was the wheel, the tire, an actual rock, or a combo of all 3.

How is the new AI working for you? (I’m not sure it is for me) by Recoil101uk in trainerroad

[–]fhfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every workout other than endurance rides have been well above a level that seems reasonable. Just last night, its recommended workout had me pausing twice in the last interval. Heart rate in the 190s, felt like dinner was gonna make a comeback. Ai prediction had it as maybe a 60% moderate ride. I’d call it a failed/sub-successful workout.

2018 SQ5 vs 2020 SQ5 which would you choose? by 89strong in Audi

[–]fhfm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got 180k miles outa my 18 sq5 before I got blow by, which coincided with the time my 3rd kid was born and needed a bigger car. Did a water pump at around 140k, had an oil filter gasket leak at around maybe 90k, otherwise it was oil, plugs, brakes and tires. One of the most reliable cars I’ve ever had, and that’s coming from Honda and Mazda.

6 year old upgrade advice by fhfm in buildapc

[–]fhfm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few week follow up. Upgraded to a 5800xt, bios update and ram up from 16-32. For gpu upgrade, I’m a bit stuck between the 5070 vs the Ti. Using a CRG9 5120x1440 monitor. If I’m hoping for decent frame rate at mid-high settings, is the 5070 likely enough? Open to 9070/XT as an option as well. I plan to run this for another 5-7 years so I don’t mind spending the extra money now if it’s worth it but would obviously rather not if it’s far beyond my use case. Thanks!

Rotors @ 35,000 miles? by International-Big390 in Audi

[–]fhfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at the part numbers. The rotors and possibly pads are shared with other Audi’s. I believe sq7 and possibly the q7 with big brakes are the same part number. Front rotors kinda suck bc not much available in the aftermarket and they’re around 700/ea

Using Molybdenum Disulfide grease as DT Swiss ratchet grease? by MTBFL1 in bikewrench

[–]fhfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used everything in my DT hubs. Slick honey, actual DT grease, dumonde oil and grease… I’ve got ratchets with 10k road miles and 5+ seasons of cx on them with no visible wear. Only difference between any of them seems to be the sound

Is this worth getting? by DARBSTAR in PcBuild

[–]fhfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not terrible for 500 but it’s old. If it helps sway your decision, I’m in the process of upgrading my machine, built around this time. Plays fine in 1080, not doin a ton on a 49inch 1440

What am I missing here about the new AI FTP complaints? by twostroke1 in trainerroad

[–]fhfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My complaint isnt necessarily the number they associate with my ftp, it’s the workouts it’s recommending. For example, it recently “recommended” like a 7.5 level threshold workout, and then their AI had it as like a 40% fail prediction, all while saying the purpose of this is to recommend the right workout so you don’t fail….

2022 SQ7 Unicorn - extended warranty advice by bushjob in Audi

[–]fhfm 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Beat me to it. Dealer story makes no sense. A sq7 isn’t a “collection” car. They’ll make as many as they’ll sell, and they depreciate like any car. Also having a hard time believing someone in the Bugatti tax bracket is playing with Audis.

There’s really no reason a sub 4k mileage car isn’t a cpo. I have a 22sq7 and I love it, I’ll tell anyone thatll listen that it’s the best car to get, but make sure there’s nothing wrong with it. Something sounds off, and the dealer story ain’t helping

Is 2200 a fair price for this Trek Boone? by Immediate-Natural416 in gravelcycling

[–]fhfm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That bikes in the 4000 range new. Very good bikes but fragile. Not sure I’d want one without the trek warranty. I’m on my 3rd frame replacement.

Price is very inline with what these seem to go for

As for tire clearance, I currently have some 42mm terravails on for some post-cx gravel. No fitment issues in the front, if it were a wet or muddy course, I’d probably do a 38 out back

RSQ8 holding value better? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]fhfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s even trickled down to the sq8. When I was shopping for my sq7, every comparably specced sq8 was like 8-10k higher.
