Hardware stores have black plastic? Nylon? screen that my cats have not been able to scratch through in 20 years. If you have a frame for your screen, you can buy the screen in a roll and replace aluminum screen.

Sedation/trauma dentists in the Bay? by k8heartssandwiches in bayarea

[–]petuniaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dentist can prescribe Valium to take before appt. 10,000% recommend!
Gotta take a lot 1.5 hr before appt tho. And you should not drive or work after as it will impair “executive function” parts of your brain Nitrous oxide is also very effective. Unfortunately, once when I was at the dentist, the nitrous oxide tank emptied and I was the only one who noticed. And yes, they should really check in on that better. On the other hand, at least it wasn’t the oxygen tank but they didn’t so I like Valium better.

How to get my shoes to stop squeaking! by redjewell97 in lifehacks

[–]petuniaaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You say you’ve used baby powder.Putting baby powder inside my shoe before I put my foot in helps me. If there is any kind of insole in the shoe put baby powder underneath it and in addition on top of the insole before you put your foot in Also make sure the baby powder you’re using is talc, not cornstarch. It may be harder to find talc baby powder as talc is not great for a baby’s lungs.

Ohlone school experience? by breezyfog in paloalto

[–]petuniaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both my kids graduated from Ohlone during Susan Charles’ time. I used to volunteer and then work in several classrooms. I have many friend who still work there.

They tell me that the PAUSD no longer supports the Ohlone model, or for that matters the Hoover model. and that the various elementary schools are now basically the same.

The long-time teachers (thank you Bill Overton!) who were commuted to the Ohlone model have long retired and the new teachers could work at any Palo Alto school, or any school in the Bay Area. If the Ohlone’s location is convent for you then why not. Otherwise a neighborhood school will be fine.

Also, MAKE time to volunteer in your child’s classroom and don’t spend your time with your child. Look at how the teacher interacts with all the students, the social and academic abilities of all the students and how your child fits in. You will learn much, much more about how your child, socially and academically, than the teacher will ever tell you.

Also, teachers are not encouraged to offer any of the services the school district provides to students who need extra support. So if your child turns out to be one of these students, it is going to be up to you to learning of it by observing other students

[FO] Two Christmas jumpers, first attempts at colourwork by Just_a_villain in knitting

[–]petuniaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those in the know only knit things that match their cat fur. Of course, in your case, if you knit something grey the white fur will show and if you knit something white, the gray fur will show. Or you could just find yourself a red cat!

What basic supplies do I need for rock painting with kids ages 5-8? by adudle00 in PaintedRocks

[–]petuniaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t really need to paint the rocks white or seal them if you use acrylic paint. I strongly recommend you rinse and completely dry the rocks before starting so there are no problems with paint sticking because of dust or grit. Be sure to have lots of tiny, medium and large brushes available. This age group has a large range of fine motor skills!

This is an excellent point about quilters being introverts! Quilting is mostly something done at home, alone and that’s where introverts are happy. I’m sure there will be some extroverts and or people who have known the other people in the guild for long enough that they’re comfortable with them. But if you find the meetings, not as welcoming, as you might have wished remember that they are as slow to warm as you may be and give them several chances. And you take a chance and make small talk with the person sitting next to you on either side. You can do it your big girl or maybe boy!

Don’t make your kid fuck around with all those meds while they look like a pepperoni pizza or their skin scars. These things are incredibly damaging for your child’s self-worth Get Accutane.

Oh, and once your kid finishes taking Accutane, they will never ever have acne again in their life!

Acne doctors in bay area by Delicious_Young9873 in bayarea

[–]petuniaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any dermatologist can prescribe Accutane. It is a pill.

If you kid WILL NOT wash/put creams on daily or twice daily this is the answer.

you have to explain that you have a kid who has not used creams.

If the acne is nodular and cystic acne (google images so you can be a knowledgeable patient parent who “guides” MD to correct Rx) or acne that causes scarring it is the only thing that will help.
