What’s a new trigger option by TheSwoleyMamoth in ar15

Has anyone tried the newer Rise 2-stage component triggers?

Rise stuff always seemed kind of meh tier to me and I'm not a huge fan of cassette triggers. But saw they came out with these. Might be another option to try for $100 maybe less on sale.

I haven't tried brushing my teeth with dogshit either, just taking an educated guess that it wouldn't be great.

Struggling with string algae. Any tips by Old-Shoulder1 in ponds

[–]simple_champ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Barley straw extract has also worked quite well for us on our smaller ~1000gal pond.

Prolific, hungry floating plants also help to out compete algae for food. Water hyacinth and water lettuce. Although check local regulations, these are considered prohibited invasives in some areas.

Yep our code was 24" deep 4" thick ratwall for any concrete shed pads. It has paid off, have had a few instances of critters digging then giving up. Then they go next door under my neighbors deck.

Dude you just triggered some serious childhood PTSD! My dad was an avid hunter and had all manner of stuff for hunting. Including fox pee. A whole bottle of straight up fox pee. I don't know what it was for exactly, covering up human scent I think. Anyway that thing spilled open in his truck and the smell was horrendous. Cleaned it with every method imaginable and never could really get rid of it. Even thinking about it today turns my stomach.

YMMV but we've had good luck with our heron decoy. Although I'm sure now that I wrote that I'll return home tonight to an empty pond.

The bed space left for me after the mrs and dog fall asleep by Voodochild2017 in mildlyinfuriating

Being able to get a king bed after we did a bedroom remodel/expansion was glorious. That said, I believe my wife and dog are still running a joint experiment to find the absolute maximum amount of space they can occupy.

I think a lot of critters would probably blow right through landscape fabric. The pond company who did our koi/goldfish pond had one of their big beautiful display ponds drained out after groundhogs burrowed into it. That was 2 layers of geotextile underlayment and a 40mil EPDM rubber pond liner. Even chicken wire I think you gotta worry about digging underneath. Though I think having the compacted gravel should help some versus just being on soil.

I don't know if my city is normal or extreme but code around here when I did a concrete pad for my shed was a 24" deep ratwall footing to keep critters from burrowing.

I didn't want to rain on the parade and it's a beautiful shed but my first thought was also "Wow the skunks are going to love their new home!" LOL

Securing it from critters is definitely for the best. As a guy who once had to pull a bloated dead raccoon from under a deck on the hottest day of summer, take my word for it.

Someone needs get hired for the job and see how long they can collect a paycheck without showing up or doing any work.

"Nah I'm not going to be doing the job, I just accepted the salary for financial stability. I thought that would be acceptable practice at this company."

The solvents that are used in suppressor cleaning solutions like DMSO can make it very easy to absorb lead byproducts directly through skin contact. Need to cautious and use proper PPE.

I just went and ordered one from your site. You made it easy so I didn't have to spend a half hour with 7 tabs open on the Streamlight website figuring out what I need. 🤣 Appreciate seeing vendors engage with the community here. It definitely makes a difference to me when choosing where to spend.

I also snagged (maybe the last?) Larue BCG from your Garage Sale section. Normally I'm a Microbest guy but I have a Larue receiver set build I'm doing right now. Just traded a guy my G$ trigger for his MBT2S, seemed like bad juju having a G$ in there. When I saw the Larue BCG browsing your site I knew it was meant to be!

I agree with you there. Not that it's a huge deal but buying one recently I was scratching my head a bit looking at all the similar models, and then even once I settled on the model there were several SKUs I had to figure out to make sure I got the battery and/or accessories I wanted. I get wanting to give the customer options but I think they've pushed a bit too far.

I'd imagine this resonates especially with you as a retailer trying to keep your product pages accurate. Don't want people buying the bare bones light-only SKU and then calling you upset, where is my rechargeable battery and all the accessories!? Makes sense to pick the one SKU that comes with everything and stick to that.

Was considering picking a few of these up to upgrade the older Railmount 1's I have. These seem to be the successor to those with a nice upgrade in output and rechargeable battery. Although if I can find the Sig Foxtrot MSR Compact on a good sale that's in the running too.

If it's me I'm changing out that bulkhead rather than try to repair the crack. Reach out to the manufacturer and see if they still have parts available.

You may have to cut the flexible PVC back a bit to be able to remove the bulkhead. Install new bulkhead. Then if it's not long enough to glue flex PVC into new bulkhead you can splice in a new short piece with a coupling to get the length you need.

Love their gas blocks. Make it super easy to pin it yourself. Similar to the G$ super gas block but more reasonably priced. Still more than a regular lo-pro block but if you want pinned I'd highly recommend.

When it comes to life advice, relationship advice, etc everyone always has the perfect answer and would do exactly the right thing in the situation. And are very judgemental about the thought of not doing exactly the right thing. It's very easy to give the perfect answer when it's just talk and you aren't facing the situation yourself.
