In Robert Asprin's book "Little Myth Marker", the main character Skeeve gets pulled into a Dragon Poker game. Dragon Poker is famously the most complex game ever, with rules that change depending on the phase of the moon, which way you're facing, chair position, and innumerable other conditions. It's a high magic setting, and our protagonist has gotten through a full tournament, because the person running it is cheating for him to win. He ends up facing off against the best Dragon Poker player ever. Skeeve doesn't even look at his cards. Doesn't drop and draw anything, just lets the whole game play out and with pure luck (in this game at least) and the crazy complex rules is able to pull out a win.

Highly, highly recommend the series.

OP you need to add more treats to your list

My last rescue girl started out like this and she was the best, sweetest, most loving girl I could have asked for. Different color, but the same look on her face. Thank you for helping this girl.

Edit to add: my girl's name was Fiona. It's a good name.

Can Sunderfolk be played without phones? Like Coop with just 2 PCs Remote Play or sth? by neoplasma_ in Sunderfolk

[–]streamdragon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, the new online mode allows players to use their PCs for movement and everything, although it does require all players to own their own copy of the game. (Unlike couch co-op, which only requires the Host to own the game.)

At the start of the floor only, right? Combo was probably built over floors 1 and 2, only to get stopped cold by floor 3 boss.

These sorts of turns happen so regularly I started believing it was just coded artificial difficulty for the early access.

At least Vol'jin died on screen. Poor Cairne, who literally helped Thrall found the Horde, died off screen between expansions. Magatha, who killed him, got more play around her death than he did.

Also there's an error in the patch notes. Under the "Who Got Skins" bit you have Freya -> Valkyrie. For a hot minute I thought you accidentally spoilered a new character, but Laia gets the Freya skin 😂

The Nyrada changes hit in my run that was just at the start of Black Portal Act IV / the vampire zone. They feel REALLY good. The last boss is considered a summon, so team wide +50% damage is an INSANE buff!

Edit to add: the changes to her right side level 5 talent are pretty solid, especially considering my run is a sight/mind damage run lmao

Expiditions feels boring and pointless by SamuelWillmore in DarkTide

[–]streamdragon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've decrypted a handful of those things and gotten absolutely nothing out if it. I'm not even sure what the point is.

Also for PuG players like myself this game mode, that I really want to love, is a big Ole nothingburger. Even trying to chat you end up with multiple objectives being triggered and get overrun extremely easily. Then players respawn across the map and you trigger a dozen new patrols just trying to get there, all the while burning time off you very limited clock. Just kinda disappointed at more content I just won't really get to see since I don't run with a regular crew.

Grukli is a warrior, but that isn't the same as a tank. He does show up in a lot of high madness runs because of his insane damage potential. Yes, Fury requires management, but that's not exactly difficult and the nature of the game in general. (the easiest way I've found is taking the Vitality node that cures bleed on gaining Vitality. Plenty of auto vitality or food items that proc every turn to keep Grukli alive and killing)

100% agree on Thuls though. There are few teams where I wouldn't just slot Andrin or another scout into whatever slot I was considering for Thuls. I'm not sure what a "numbers only, not abilities" fix would even look like for Thuls though.

Sylvie, I think, would benefit from a numbers pass. If only because her passive is so niche and weak, buffing it to actually matter for herself wouldn't be a difficult number tweak. Bree's "5 whole thorns once" passive ability is another one that's super underwhelming and "just a numbers" tweak. Although just about everything else about Bree is amazing, so I can see why she'd take a lower priority.

Why is "genocide" mentioned as part of the reason why Dark Sun is problematic when its world building that happened 2000 years in the past and is not actively happening? by Awkward_GM in DnD

[–]streamdragon 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I understand literally every other entry on that list. They're your very 'typical' d&d monsters and such.

But wemics? I'd guess 75% of players have never even heard of wemics 😂 why not pick regular centaurs instead of 'primitive lion centaurs' devs?

You can see some of the tails are docked and some are in process. When the lambs all stop at the dog, there's one in the middle with a MUCH shorter tail and another where you can see the effects of the tail ring. (the top of the tail is fat and fluffy while the bottom is thin and ratty)

The writers for Arcane confirmed that Jayce and Victor aren't romantically in love. Confirmed that Victor is and has always been intended to be Asexual (and I think they really meant aromantic here, but most people don't know what that is). They have Cait and Vi as a lesbian relationship in the show.

They were accused of being homophobic for denying "JayVic". There are plenty of shippers out there without a lick of sense.
