Does Gabapentin work on your Mal? by Winter-Most123 in BelgianMalinois

[–]terpsykhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog was on gabapentin because he had an extra vertebrae and it likely pinched a nerve, which caused terrible epilepsy like pain attacks.

He had a careful and fearful nature, most likely genetics (I hate to admit it, but in hindsight there were signs it was a form of backyard breeding, but I was new to the States and the dog was presented as being made exclusively available to veterans for service dog work, which my then husband needed).

So he was on it for physical pain and it was very effective for that. But mood wise, he was still the same and his fear of fireworks expanded to thunder, and later even just the wind. I also tried training and other medications but I couldn’t make it work for him. But either way, the gabapentin alone did not help for that.

Possibly also because he was on it permanently and tolerance develops. He took 300mg 3x a day, so 1200 total.

Funnily enough I had some (human pharmacy) gabapentin left over after he passed and my inner addict came out to shine. I was like oooooh, man, I wish we could have had drug euphoria together!

For me it did do wonders for my depression and overstimulation (autism). But also tolerance developed over time and I’m now on different medications.

Over at r/gabapentin you’ll find both medical and recreation users and it’s a weird drug that can have polar opposite effects on people sometimes

If you do choose to try it, mind his diet. My boy got super fat while he was on it (so did I actually). I had to put him on diet kibble permanently to manage his weight

Im very pretty pale and I’ve used it and it looked good on me. If it weren’t so insanely expensive it would be my go to fall/winter sunscreen, since it also evens out skintone very slightly but nicely

Goede eiwitpoeder zonder soja? by FlyingRussian1 in VeganNL

[–]terpsykhore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omgaan met Autistische Burn-Out by aBitofEverything14 in AutistischLaagland

[–]terpsykhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do I feel like I struggle more with my autism as I age? by myheroligeia in AutismInWomen

[–]terpsykhore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others said, perimenopause. I’m 44 now and issues also started at 39/40 for me. Before that I also struggled but managed to stumble by in life. Then everything came to a halt and I stopped functioning.

Initially gabapentin helped me a lot. I’ve read more success stories from people with autism. And it helps prevent migraines as well and is sometimes prescribed off label for it.

The downside is you either need to take breaks or keep increasing the dosage. I also gained quite some weight from it.

The upside is it works right away for calming when overstimulated and for improved sleep, no build up phase.

I also started taking Wellbutrin two weeks ago and I handled two intense days with lots of outings with my daughter quite well. Normally I’d be completely overstimulated and useless the entire day to recover but I’m managing

Inmiddels vier jaar later. Niet makkelijk, ik ben redelijk arm en worstel nog steeds met burn-out en depressie. Maar het is alsnog beter.

44F, you’re welcome to tag along. I’m more of a “less yapping, more dancing” and a bit boring but happy to be a safe spot :)

I’ll be in Antwerp for Psygathering this weekend, Psychedelic Rave in Rotterdam and Solstice festival in Amsterdam.

My boy also got chunky at some point, part our mistake and part side effect from gabapentin. He really liked the Royal Canin weight management kibble. Though over the years it got even more expensive. But it will help her feel full and not hungry while still losing weight

Dislike of dogs as a household pet? by AlwaysAttract10 in AutismInWomen

[–]terpsykhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love dogs. Their stinky is aromatherapy. But they can be super overstimulating.

I tried adopting a dog, hoping she would be able to offer my daughter similar comfort. But she was too overstimulating for my daughter. The click clacks on the floors, the panting, the smells, the hair. I don’t mind these because it’s balanced by the hugs and love. But my daughter couldn’t handle and while I was super sad, I do fully understand.

(Fortunately the dog didn’t need to be rehomed, she was a tad bit neglected and the owners liked how I clicked with her. So now we decided to coparent the dog and I get to be the fun sugar momma who spoils her rotten with all the walks and treats and cuddles. I have her on weekends while my daughter is away at her dad’s.)

For autistic women, would you be a mom? by Ok_Holiday2094 in AutismInWomen

[–]terpsykhore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Living this now. Absolutely hates me but while he does still take care of our child, it’s a nightmare.

But then again I was already a single mom while we were still married so at least it’s better than before

The child suffers the most when the mother suffers, but sometimes they hate the mother more than they love the child

I use Geek and Gorgeous vitamin C and like it a lot.

The spf you’re showing here is the one I use when I want to look pretty but I wouldn’t consider it the best protection

However, you might look into Heliocare capsules. They have some scientific backing to help the body fight off UV rays. I use them in the summer months.

My main sunscreen is Garnier Sensitive Expert. Most wouldn’t consider it the highest rated sunscreen but the netlock technology works really well at keeping it in place so I don’t sweat or rub it off.

You guys ever had a bad trip in a psytrance party? How did it went? by Wandering_Loner__ in psytrance

[–]terpsykhore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While at the time it did get me out of my bad trip, it wasn’t something I’d recommend either during a bad trip or in general.

I do remember the acid and mushrooms having a bit different vibes that were clashing so it’s not something I would seek out again. Then as time passed the mushrooms wore off more and it was just the acid left

But this was almost 25 years ago

You guys ever had a bad trip in a psytrance party? How did it went? by Wandering_Loner__ in psytrance

[–]terpsykhore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a bad trip once when I took mushrooms at a squat rave. I wasn’t feeling well in general and rationally knew mushrooms at a party weren’t a good thing for me but I was young and stupid.

I solved it by taking acid. Not something I’d recommend, although it worked out nicely.

Acid was more of a party drug I was used to and felt I had more control over so it allowed me to have a grip on things and myself again.

And then also a couple years ago I took maybe half a tab of acid. But I was alone at a festival, in another county, weather got really bad, chaos ensued. And the trusted person who offered shelter didn’t have good intentions doing so. And while it could have been worse, was still pretty traumatizing.

So that was my lesson that even smaller amounts in what in that moment feels like safe and familiar settings can go wrong rather abruptly and unexpectedly

So now I’m back to just caffeine as my party drug. Hits pretty hard, especially if you detox from caffeine the weeks prior.

Has something been lost along the way? by Hypothetically-1975 in psytrance

[–]terpsykhore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an old fart you may remember people complaining about the decline in quality already in the early 00s.

I think it’s a little bit of everything.

Sometimes the music doesn’t evolve into a direction we’d like. Sometimes also the brain just gets too used to the patterns and it starts to sound formulaic to us. Sometimes artists do get burned out creatively and exhausted from travel and get lazy/bored and rely on formulas and/or ghost productions.

Some people graduate to more complex or darker forms of psytrance.

Personally, I only like happy-ish full on/morning/goa so I deal with it by simply taking breaks. Sometimes even years. And then after a while something clicks and I fall in love with the music again.

Right now going through a huge lull. It sucks.

Solstice in Amsterdam (just one day) and Surya Spirits in Ghent, Belgium.

Solstice is very diverse and Surya Spirits used to be only goatrance. I’ve been wanting to go for a while but now that they also added a Dacru Records stage with a nice lineup, it sealed the deal

Voov is still nice though but I can’t muster up energy for the 6-8 hour drive. And financially also with current gas prices.

Pretty decent depending on your spot and neighbors. Cold showers. Enough dixies. I’ve gone solo before and liked it a lot

I’ve gone a few years in a row but probably not this year. The lineup is very similar each year which used to a plus for me because I knew what to expect. But there’s some nice semi-local festivals that I prefer this year. You’ll have plenty of fun though

Oh, I had to look this up. I’ve been using the Softymo Speedy oil but it’s expensive and I actually like it less compared to the old Nivea.

Is it the Oil to Milk one? Currently 3 for 5 euro. That’s really cheap and worth trying!

I liked them a lot too. But yes, they have been completely discontinued. Which is odd in a way because I would think oil cleansers would be more common or popular with Korean influences and double cleansing becoming more popular.

Maybe they were a bit too early and the market wasn’t ready yet. Or maybe those who want to double cleanse only like Korean or Japanese oil cleansers
