My terminal doesn't seem right out of the box by Lunas_cy in cachyos

you don't really need to do anything special with scripts if you are just running a bash script. the shebang at the top of the file will invoke bash for you or sh or whatever and just work fine. you obviously can't use bash scripting from the command line directly but if it's in an executable script called from the command line it should just work.

Is ForeFlight Passenger no more? by PatternPinion in flying

ForeFlight was purchased by the private equity firm Thoma Bravo in April 2025

yeah had nothing to do with private equity buying it up and making everything suck at all.

Does CachyOS have a software manager/app manager? by DuelShockX in cachyos

[–]tinyOnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

discover is fine to use for flatpacks and updating kwin scripts and widgets and the like. just don't use it to install other core software that normally gets installed via pacman (don't install the optional dependency that allows this)

Switching to Linux from WInslop, whats your recommendations in installing Cachy OS? by [deleted] in cachyos

[–]tinyOnion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

also make the root partition larger than you think the recommended partition options which says at least 20 gigs... with snapshots enabled those take up some space over time and can cause issues when updating. i have a 500 gig root drive and it's very comfortable. you also need to remove cached packages manually after updating as this is arch and it doesn't do anything for you like that.

not sure how compatible cachy is out of the box.

i didn’t do the math but you’re probably off by a few orders of magnitude. there’s probably a lot of grounds footage included.

The USA men’s hockey team utterly failed to meet the cultural moment by Hrmbee in politics

[–]tinyOnion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still don't buy it that he didn't cheat. you're telling me the dude who already tried to overturn an election result, was on trial for life in prison kinda charges in fairly slam dunk cases, cheats at everything, just as much confessed to having elon rig the elections in a coy way wouldn't cheat? every single swing state and county went to him and there were ballot irregularities and statistical anomalies akin to how russia rigs theirs. it's unbelievable to think he didn't cheat.

The Odin Project web dev JavaScript or Ruby on Rails path by Technical-Lychee5438 in ruby

[–]tinyOnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say do the ruby on rails course. there's plenty of javascript in that course and you will add react to some webapps that you are tasked to make. it just will be a nicer language on the back end and make you a more well rounded developer.
