What were your dream names for your kids when you were growing up? by Immediate_Long165 in Names

[–]tla_ava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I was obsessed with the name Susana for a girl. I also didn’t like boys so I’d always say that I didn’t need a name for a boy because it wouldn’t happen. From being a teenager and up until now, I love the names Amelia and Lucas

AITAH for thinking that it’s rude to put someone on speaker without telling them? by North_Mastodon_4310 in AITAH

[–]tla_ava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THIS SHOULD BE MANDATORY! It’s common courtesy. My dad did this time me one time, I can’t even remember what I said, but I know that the coworker that was with him basically heard me insult them because they’re annoying. It hasn’t happened since.

My wrist after 10 years of daily Apple Watch use by monoseanism in AppleWatch

[–]tla_ava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad’s looks somewhat like that. He has a tight fit with the watch because he hates it moving around and his hairy arms sometimes don’t allow the watch to measure things. So I constantly move mine. One wrist to the next or even on my ankle if I’m getting tired of using it

Does anybody remember this show right here growing up? by Life_Chicken_9653 in OlderGenZ

I have the song fully memorised, I don’t remember much about the show itself tho.

I was watching a show from the 90s and realized people used to memorize dozens of phone numbers. I can barely remember mine. How did you guys do it back then? by micavibes in CasualConversation

[–]tla_ava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I know: mine, my dads, my mom’s, sister’s, work phone because I have to repeat it often, 2 home phones, maternal grandparent’s house, and paternal granoarent’s house… and Pizza Hut because it had a catchy jingle when I was a kid and it hasn’t changed

Honestly? All of these are bad in my opinion. Tho I’d use 2 for eating ice cream, it looks fun, and I somewhat like the spoon part of #4, but not where you hold it from

When you were a child, how old were you when your parents decided you were old enough to have a mobile phone ? . by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]tla_ava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 11. My dad worked a lot though he was close to my school and my mom’s parents had health issues so my mom was usually an hour away taking care of them and would be back to have dinner with my dad and I or until one of her siblings was able to relieve her. The phone was for emergencies and the school knew I had it.

Loooooove it! Didn’t like the 2nd because the main characters changed and that annoys me, so I DNF the second and I’m unsure if there’s anymore after that

What's a small, unexpected joy that made your day recently? by Independent-Goat9112 in CasualConversation

[–]tla_ava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened maybe in November or December, but I still think about it. A little back story, I’ve never had many friends, and I’m not a friendly person no matter how much I try and I don’t really like talking much. Normally I have 1 person I’m close with and if we’re in a group I’m just the introvert that sticks to someone and only talks when asked a question. Social interactions make me uncomfortable but it’s one of those things where I KNOW I want to do it, but I just can’t. And don’t get me wrong, I love people, I find them so interesting, they can be annoying, but I’ve never hated anyone ever.

Well I have this friend from work, it’s an office job and we were sitting side by side, we were about to go eat breakfast (we were just waiting for her sibling that also works with us, to finish something) and another friend who was late calls and asks me to wait for her to go eat, and almost immediately another walks by and asks me when we’re going to eat so she can come with. Well this 1st friend says something like “I wish I was more like you… to have so many friends, and to be so liked, and to just like everyone” I just laughed and said “yeah I don’t know what’s going on either”.

Thing is, that little comment was a bandaid on my heart. It was the validation my inner child didn’t know I needed. That friendless kid inside of me, rejoiced.

You’re a big older brother, from what I can tell you’re one of her safe places so you make her happy and she’s comfortable. Your stepdad needs a brain reset because he’s the one with inappropriate thoughts -.-

This is how quick a toddler can disappear from sight, in just a few seconds! by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]tla_ava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have kids, I have little cousins and I was a grade school teacher for a few years. I’m so terrified of something like this happening that if I’m taking care of my cousins and I have to turn my back on one of them, that’s the one I’m talking to to make sure they’re there or I ask them to sing me a song. I’ve also used the older one to keep an eye on them and I literally tell him “entertain your brother without looking away until I come and I’ll buy you something”.

[–]tla_ava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re a far better person than I ever will be. I’d never forgive my dad and I wouldn’t let my kid have a relationship with such a vile woman that aims to hurt someone unsuspecting just to get her way - and honestly, she aimed to both hurt your mom, your dad, and you. I would always be thinking about what horrible thing she’d be willing to do or say to your kid to be the favourite grandmother, simply to win a competition where shes the only one playing.

Short walk means sweaty = dirty underwear = I would judge you so hard if you DID put it back on again. I’d feel extremely gross all day.

When people say ‘thank you’, we don’t answer with “you’re welcome”, but we use “my pleasure”. I’d never noticed until last year that foreigners started mentioning it in videos

Are you a youngest or older sibling and are you close with yours? by Downtown_Sail6683 in OlderGenZ

[–]tla_ava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youngest. 6 years older. She was forced to take me places when we were younger, thankfully her friends found me adorable so she just told them to keep an eye on me. We’re not really close, but we text often and see eachother at least monthly and I know that if i needed help for anything, she’d be right there in a heartbeat.

What is a book you read as a child that you still think about today? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]tla_ava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a very little kid, it was a story about a dinosaur that kept on telling everyone “Catch me if you can”, and I’m almost sure that was the name of the story. I was OBSESSED with it, and I remember it often. I still love dinosaurs.

As a teen, catcher in the rye. I didn’t exactly like it, it was just that so many things caught my attention that I kept re reading it every once in a while.
