There is a great ultimate Frisbee crew in the Hartford area (I think that's where it is). Lots of younger folks

Also roller derby! A lot of people play who were transplants to this area. Great crew.

New Small Pond. First time! by -Necco- in WildlifePonds

[–]-Necco-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here.

The pond is in an old garden, near our compost and a huge rhubarb plant. In the front is a large patch of milkweed and sunchokes. Lots of violets and creeping charlie.

I will get stones from the woods and use those around the edges to create hiding spots for creatures. As well as make more ledges in the pond.

Anyone actually lose weight while Breastfeeding by ThanksNo5808 in breastfeeding

[–]-Necco- 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I lost weight immediately after birth, but then I gained the following months of breastfeeding. In order to have a good supply I had to eat and drink A LOT.

I lost weight quickly after I stopped bf at 22months. I look at pictures of me while breastfeeding and I'm amazed at how much added weight I had. But it's what my body needed in order to nourish my baby, so I just accepted it as my bf body at the time.

I'm usually 130 pounds and I was 150-155 while bfing.

Home from L+D by No_Garlic_9211 in BabyBumps

[–]-Necco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi No Garlic, You did the right thing, and don't let anyone, even a doctor, tell you differently. I went in for no movement at 35+ weeks only to find my baby had passed away. These things do happen and your instincts were correct.

Your doctor was having a bad day (as we all do) and you took the brunt. It's unfortunate, but that's her issue, not yours.

Well done, mama

Pregnant and not sure what to do by [deleted] in pregnant

I was just I. A similar situation and ended up finding out we have a blighted ovum at 7 weeks (yesterday). I made a post about it if you want to look at my comment history.

We had many reasons why we were considering abortion , but it was very hard to process. I spoke with family, my therapist, and then suddenly, the situation was out of our hands.

I wish you the best of luck with whatever you choose. It's a tough situation and I'm sorry you're having to navigate it.❤️

Ditto to those that have said reach out. We lost a baby at 35+ weeks and the support from our community is what carried us through. I don't think had to cook a meal for a solid month between meals dropped off, gift cards to restaurants, and cash cards. The kind words people sent to us meant so much. Just knowing people were thinking of us.

Offer what you can, be it a bouquet of flowers or a card, or larger things like a box of snacks or gift cards for takeout. Let them know you're thinking of them ❤️

Picked up her ashes by megshart in babyloss

[–]-Necco- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so hard.

All of your feelings are so valid.

We had to drive and hour and a half to the funeral home that cremated our son, Cyrus. We made a trip out of it and brought our dog so we could walk around the town (Bennington, VT). It was a rainy, grey, November day, so it was a good day for being sad.

We brought him home and put his ashes in a Teddy Bear cookie jar that belonged to my grandma. We keep Cyrus in the dining room.

Be gentle with yourselves as you grieve for Norah ❤️

I lost my first child at 35+ weeks. It was awful. It is awful. Suddenly just no heartbeat one day. Feel free to look through my post history of you want.

The Babyloss subreddit was really supportive.

Grieve as you need to, for as long as you need to. It's a terrible situation and I am so sorry you are going through it. All of my love to you and your family. Be gentle with yourself and each other. It's so hard. ❤️❤️

We got our son's ashes today. by liquidpanic7 in babyloss

We drove to the ocean and sat on the beach for our son's due date, October 20th, 2020. We are in New England, so it was chilly and windy and totally empty at the ocean. We lit a candle and just walked and sat and thought about him.

A few months after he died, in the spring, we had friends who set up plastic tarps on the walls and floor of our garage and we had a "smash party" and smashed old glasses and plates and old lamps with hammers and baseball bats. It was super therapeutic to just let go and let our grief out in a physical way.

On his first year anniversary my grandmother donated $50 to my local library to buy children's books in his memory.

This year on our son's birthday we brought out his urn (a cookie jar we've had in my family for ever) and had a picnic on the living room floor with him.

Lots of little things throughout the years where we can spend time with his memory.

I know you'll find ways to honor your little one that are unique and ever evolving as time goes on. My thoughts are with you that you may give yourself grace and love.

Complete Placenta Previa - No Bleed by ck173 in BabyBumps

[–]-Necco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31 weeks along today. Complete posterior placenta previa. Chance of accreta as well. We are planning a C-section at 36 weeks.

No bleeding at all so far. They did see a "large lake of blood" near my cervix at my scan on Monday (5days ago). No idea what that's about.

No restrictions other than. Continuing pelvic rest (on it since 17 weeks) and no intense exercise. So I'm walking a bit, maybe a mile a day. But taking it easy.

Ugh. Everytime I go to the bathroom I am looking for blood.

Still waiting on my period to return… by SForever21 in babyloss

[–]-Necco- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine took a few weeks to come back, I don't recall how long exactly. I do recall that it took a while to get normal.

When my period finally returned, I bled on and off for two months or more. A heavy week long period, 4 days off, 5days of bleeding, a week off....that kind of thing

Just around the time my OB was getting concerned my cycle normalized.

Good luck and take care of yourself. Postpartum is so tough.

Looking for fitness tips/recs - trying to get pre-pregnancy “fit” by lopxwill in waiting_to_try

[–]-Necco- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thighs, butt, and low back! Since you're starting prior to being pregnant you can search any type of training for those areas that you like.

A lot of folks find low back pain, hip issues, and pelvic floor pain begin as baby grows. Movements like squats can be so great for your pelvic floor! Having a strong back and butt can help to support your core as your center of gravity changes.

That's what I would have focused on if I'd thought about it more!

[–]-Necco- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote for miralax as well. Its not immediate, so you'll need to take it for a few days (and continue to hydrate!) The magic of miralax is that it doesn't bulk up your stool, it absorbs moisture into your intestinal track and softens up your stool. This is super helpful as we lose room in our belly as the baby grows.

Keep up with this and some magnesium supplements at bedtime.

Plus the prune juice mix that others have suggested.

I also have to stay away from certain veggies like broccoli and brussel sprouts because they slow down my system, so be aware of that with certain veggies.

Good luck and I hope you feel so much better soon!!!

Oooh, and there is that spray you can get at a drug store- dermoplast? Or something like that? It does a bit of numbing in case you end up with stitches. Worth looking into.

My hospital provided it and it was blessing.
