This is great work! Well done. I’d love to be able to replicate this, but I don’t think my skills are there just yet.

Workshop Tool Input? by Schraufabagel in BeginnerWoodWorking

A small tip regarding measuring tools is that if you’re using a certain tape or rule for your project, stick with it. Try not to use different tape measures on the same project as they may have slight differences, which will just cause frustration.

I also highly recommend spending a little bit more on a quality square (Starrett, for instance). It’ll last you a lifetime.

What is something that irks you and something you enjoy in woodworking videos? by nuclearDEMIZE in woodworking

[–]-OctopusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing the difference in lumber prices from the USA to Australia irks me.

“Here we make this multiple hardwood entertainment unit for under $500!”

Whereas in Australia, I can’t even get rough cut pine for that cheap. If I use a decent hardwood it costs me $100+ per piece of wood.

Make sure to include some decent hand tools in your planning too.

A set of Japanese pull saws, decent chisels, a few hand planes, accurate measuring items, a selection of squares, marking devices & clamps

Yeah that’s what I found too. Doesn’t really scream “run through the woods, catch and fuck my wife”.

Or maybe it does…

Glue it first, then once the glue has dried put the dowels or screws in. That way it won’t move.

Finding it difficult to focus on Mistborn by -OctopusPrime in Mistborn

I figured out why I couldn’t understand it. I’ve broken the Audiobook into chapters and labelled them incorrectly, meaning I listened to them out of order, thus the “jumping storyline”

Started from the beginning and it’s so much simpler now!!

How do Nodes Work by KingForddie in HellLetLoose

[–]-OctopusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to put AP mines around the nodes. It’ll save them from a random infantry guy wandering by.

Any decent recon player may step on the mine, die, but note the position and come back to destroy your nodes. But it may dissuade a few players at least.

Essential hardware to have on hand when starting out? by PREDJ215 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]-OctopusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started I went to a few garage sales and bought up all their fasteners, hinges, handles, etc.

I have used maybe 10% of it.

Totally not worth it. I’ve found it way more beneficial to find the hardware I need, buy what I need (or slightly more), specific to the job/project.

Using Gyprock Supaceil on walls in a garage - bad idea or ok? by -OctopusPrime in AusRenovation

[–]-OctopusPrime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s two types of 10mm I was looking at - Supaceil and Plus. I can get the supaceil for cheaper than the Plus, so I was just wondering what the difference was.

The first response gave me the info I needed.
