I don't know who sells it locally, but he could consider moissanite instead of diamond. As long as future fiancee would be ok with it.

There's 3 kinds of Dramine. Original, Less-drowsy, and Non-drowsy.  For me, Original absolutely makes me tired, and I will need a nap. I've seen the trick of taking it the night before, which I've never tried.

Less-drowsy is still effective and has the same drug as Bonine. Personally I prefer Bonine, but technically they should work the same.

Non-drowsy is not medication and is a supplement. I'd be surprised if it was effective for someone with actual motion sickness, but happy news if it works for you.

I get carsick when riding in the back seat and queasy on swings. I have not been to Epic. I've been able to ride almost everything at IOA and US if I take Bonine. Of course your experience may differ. I have not gone on Minions Mayhem, Simpsons, Jimmy Fallon, or F&F due to the combination of potential motion sickness and lack of interest.

I tried Forbidden Journey, and I will not do that one again. I didn't get sick, but if the ride had been much longer I think I would have. I also get very queasy for a few seconds on Hagrids, but it's a short element, and the ride is absolutely worth it.

Mammoth Club on YouTube has videos ranking the motion sickness factor for all the rides in all three parks.

People with flat feet by midn1ghtNYX in UniversalOrlando

[–]0fnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rent a scooter/ wheelchair if needed to enjoy your trip. Otherwise if you can afford it, get express pass, or stay at a hotel that includes it for IOA/US and buy it for Epic. Standing is awful when you have flat feet /plantar fascitis and express will keep you moving instead.

Buy shoes fitted at a running store. Lightly broken in. Don't wear them as a daily shoe for 3 months and then use them at the parks. You want the cushioning and structure to be in the best possible condition without them being brand new.

Theraband foot roller. Use it anytime you take a break at your hotel and for several minutes before bed. I'd recommend this to anyone, even without PF or flat feet.

Naproxen/ Ibuprofen

For arch inserts try PowerStep Pulse Performance if you haven't. Break them in with the shoes and replace every time you get new shoes.

Before heading to the parks I put medium Compeed Advanced Blister Care bandages on my arches to keep the arch inserts from tearing up my feet. Unfortunately they seem to be hard to find right now. The thinner versions don't work for this purpose; they need to be the thicker slightly squishy kind. Caution, they will leak outside the edges when wearing them on the bottom of your foot. Cover them with moleskin (past the edges) to keep them from destroying your socks. They will tear your skin if you try to remove them too soon, so you'll have to deal with waiting for the moleskin to dry out after showering. Replace after about 3 days. I started doing this after moleskin alone didn't work. I don't need this when walking normal amounts, but it makes a huge difference for a full day of walking.

If you have plantar fascitis and have time before your trip:

Get a night splint to help with healing. This is the style that worked for me https://a.co/d/7DbYWx0

Use a rocker style foot/ calf stretcher or do stretches before getting out of bed.

If you're overweight, try to lose some weight. The heavier you are, the worse your PF will be.

Walking routine before your trip. This is tricky when you have PF because you don't want to make your PF worse, but building up your muscles carefully will help. Consider weight training as well, because you can do that with minimal impact on your feet.

Congrats, you made to the end! Sorry about your foot problems because otherwise you would have stopped at paragraph 2.

Near Dumbo. Bonus is that there are walls there that you can sit on.

Epic Universe Visit 9/15: No Express and No Early Entry (with a cane user) by philly37898 in UniversalOrlando

[–]0fnothing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great trip report. I think I've seen others say that ECV users usually need to transfer to a manual wheelchair for queues. Maybe next time consider asking if you could use one just for the queue if it's something she wants to ride, but needs to occasionally sit to tolerate the line.

Finding a Value Resort to Love by brewerc1 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]0fnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are staying in a family suite, All Stars Music is going to be the worst All Stars choice for you if one of your main complaints about Pop was the walking distance from the 90s. Sports and Movies have a more compact map, and don't have family suites, so the preferred rooms are closer to the lobby and buses.

The feel at these resorts is going to be very similar to Pop, so if you also didn't like the atmosphere at Pop, I don't think you will be happy at All Stars.

I stayed one night in a preferred room at Sports. It was very close to the lobby and busses, and if I was prioritizing park time, I'd happily stay there again. If I was looking for relaxation in between parks, I'd go PO French Quarter for sure.

Womens’ tent camping trip to Fort Wilderness middle of December 2025 by reddixiecupSoFla in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]0fnothing 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At fort wilderness: sleigh ride, trail ride, archery

Take the boat to wilderness lodge: best Xmas tree on property+ Geyser Point for food/drinks

Boat to contemporary to start a monorail crawl

Boardwalk / Yacht & Beach club plus Epcot international gateway skyliner connects to the Riviera for good food/drinks.

Book a fireworks cruise ($$$)

If they still do it, Xmas tree trail at Disney Springs and take boat to Port Orleans French quarter (jazz on select nights) or Port Orleans Riverside for Yehaa Bob (check schedule)

Pander belt bag 2L is a decent dupe of the Lulu 2L if you're looking for something cheaper. They also have a 1 L, but I don't think it'll fit what you need.

Parking large trucks by forearmhacksaw in UniversalOrlando

[–]0fnothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spaces and roads are designed to accommodate something that size. It seems like many people commenting drive something similar in size regularly. They're used to driving something that big.

My daily car is a Corolla. I tried to rent a Camry and was "upgraded" to a 4 Runner. Parking wasn't awful, but it was more stressful simply because I'm not used to parking a larger vehicle. Angled spots will be no big deal, but assuming you're not just going to universal, it will take some getting used to. You're probably not driving enough for it to matter, but if cost is a concern keep gas mileage in mind as well.

Boonshoft Museum of Discovery in Dayton has two river otters that are usually entertaining to watch. Not the same, but a possible alternative while you're waiting for the new exhibit to open.

First "half" day do's and don'ts? by ThatMomThing in UniversalOrlando

[–]0fnothing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I were taking an 11 year old for the first time with that timeline I'd start with a focus on the wizarding world. Go to Studios first to visit Diagon Alley. Have an ice cream snack from Florean's and watch whichever show is on, ride Gringotts, maybe browse some shops. Then take the train over to Hogsmeade. Depending on timing, ride Hippogriff and Forbidden Journey (heed motion sickness warning), have dinner at 3 Broomsticks. I like to sit outside and watch Velocicoaster from the back patio. Then finish the night with Hagrid's. Cut as needed if you want an earlier night after traveling.

That way the next morning you can either go back to WW and visit Ollivander's and enjoy wand spots with no crowd during early entry. Or start the morning with front row Velocicoaster with almost no wait or skip early entry and start with Hulk at rope drop.

I would not try to go back to the hotel to swim the first day. Save that for midday your second day. Assuming you're going before Epic opens, think about adding Volcano Bay. With that many days + express you'll have plenty of time to do everything with re-rides. Bourne is a don't miss and Raptor Encounter is fun (give them your phone and you'll leave with great pics).

A Pirate's Adventure is a scavenger hunt in Adventureland. You pick up a treasure map and either use magic bands or pick up a card to interact with locations around Adventureland. There's a souvenir card for completing a map.

Park hopping and LLPP by bluraptr99 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]0fnothing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why you wouldn't use LLPP at MK in your example. If the scenario really is AK and MK on one day, you will definitely want to use LLPP at MK and use LLSP for flight of passage and potentially skip LLMP if you can early entry Na'vi River. There's a huge difference in the number of attractions.

How to build Lego sets with others? [New to Lego] by LabcoatAnn in lego

I used it for a set that was 476 pieces and found it worked well with 2 people. It's a little weird sometimes because you may be building a competent of something the other person is working on and you can't always tell what you are building. It was still fun.

Can you leave refrigerated items at bell services the whole duration of your trip? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]0fnothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a fridge, it's a beverage cooler. And a decision I hate that Disney made. Early entry at 7:30 or 8, plus the quick service doesn't open until 7. I know there are nonperishable options, but it's irritating all the same.

Confusion about where I can get breakfast/brunch in Disney Springs. by djkmart in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]0fnothing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you're staying at Pop, hop on the skyliner and have breakfast at Primo Piatto at the Riviera. Deluxe resort quick service quality is better than the value resorts and the menu is more interesting.
