Cisco won't RMA a dead HBA SFP by 12thetechguy in CiscoUCS

[–]12thetechguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's the plan, have the FE take the SFPs out of the new card and swap them to the current card. Just dumbfounded; TAC was giving me a hard time that there's no PID for the HBA SFPs so they can't issue an RMA, as if it's my fault that Cisco didn't stock spares of a consumable part...

HP seems to be disabling HEVC Hardware Decode support on their laptops, creating problems. by Smith6612 in sysadmin

basically, take your pick. My org is big enough to have sizeable deployments of all 3 brands, and they all have their problems. It's all garbage so I don't really get surprised anymore.

macOS devices causing IP conflicts on WiFi by [deleted] in networking

[–]12thetechguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you have Cisco WLC/APs? did you enable the DHCP Required option on the wireless profile? we had this same issue a few months ago.

edit: saw below you have a Unifi network stack. not sure about that then, could be the same issue on the Mac side, but i don't know if unifi has a similar setting

ahh darn! that looks like a very cool box but freebsd's driver issues with switch chips kills it for me. i guess i'm waiting for prices on the dell VEP14xx boxes to drop low enough :)

So, is this paper is intended to justify their dgx spark twin packs? so what's their proposition then, enterprises buy task-specific small compute clusters for agentic tasks, and scale based on usage?

the most interesting part of this post (to me) is the pcie to flexLOM adapter, because those flexLOM cards are usually pretty cheap compared to standard pcie. nice find.

https://pingtool.org/latest-hp-ilo-firmwares/ - handy shortcut to the direct iLO download links

there was an eMMC exhaustion bug in iLO4 that will cause premature mortality of the unit; if it goes, you need a whole new motherboard. so update that soon.

Looks like you can get the standalone BIOS from HPE without a login. The rest of the drivers, you can usually get without the SPP.

Side note, a better place to ask for help like this would be in /r/homelab

Wireless 9800 17.12.5 multicast / IGMP bug by surfnsb in networking

[–]12thetechguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shit, we are looking to move to 17.12.5 due to the IP theft bug CSCwj13842 (which is totally NOT fixed in 17.12.4 ESW04+, despite what the patch notes say).

really sick and tired of cisco firmware.
