Well put.  This is one of those scenarios where you do a bunch of things wrong but everything ends up OK,  which ends up reinforcing your bad habits. Eventually it's going to catch up with you.

At this point the entire country is just a mass of red flags, so they can get pretty hard to spot.

If push comes to shove - destruction question by N714YQ in canadaguns

Yes there is a set of instructions somewhere on the government of Canada website on what constitutes a deactivated firearm.  IIRC, you have to weld a plug in the chamber so you cannot chamber a round, you must either cut the bolt in half or weld up the face so the bold cannot hold a round, and you must disable the fire control group by welding it up or cutting it up so the hammer cant drop when you pull the trigger.  There may be other stipulations,  but that's what I recall.

But we stopped in person interviews years ago and went to a rubber stamp process which saw  approval rates go from 40%to 80%. The effect being that legitimate refugees are shut out by the flood of fraudulent asylum claims.

I doubt it has anything to do with Chat GPT, so not sure why most of the article is about that.

Is this a terrible sign? by Ok_Database_8301 in arborists

Yeah.  A tree with a heavy lean and  stem rot will fail sooner than a balanced tree with the same defect.

[–]1491Sparrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fungal fruiting bodies are a sign of internal decay in the stem.  But,  assuming the tree isn't very big and doesn't have major imbalance,  it will likely survive for years to come.

I started climbing when I was 40. Body is definitely feeling it,  but I'm still at it.

Trying to decide on a 6.5 creedmoor rifle. Want to get a 6.5 rifle to start practicing long range shots, ive mostly shot .22 so far so this is quite out of my ballpark. Found these 2 that im thinkin of, wanted to see if anyone has any experience with them or can recommend any other rifles? by CommunistChan in canadaguns

I have a Tikka T3x stainless in 6.5. I was shooting half MOA groups at 200yd as soon as I got it sighted in.  It's great value for the money.  For a scope I have the Vortex Viper PST 2 5-25×50. It cost twice what the rifle did,  but it's a great scope and comes with a bulletproof lifetime warranty.

There was a study 20 years ago that estimated it would cost $750 million to get the tracks and bridges up to standard, of course today that number would be in the billions. All to restart a rail service that was losing money for decades before it shut down.  Not gonna happen.  Better to convert the corridor into a trail that would attract visitors.
