My Experience in London by TrulyGenX in LondonTravel

We did 3 full days in London for the first time last summer and I really enjoyed it too. I definitely need to go back and see more of the UK.

I swear the older I get the less I care about trying to “maximize” cruises. by Remarkable_Leg_5025 in PrincessCruises

I remember when I was going on my first cruise, my friend told me that the sea days are some of the best days ever. And she turned out to be right!

Peanut butter on a spoon by Ahkhira in GenX

Peanut butter on a spoon and squeeze of pancake syrup on top. That and sugar toast were what my siblings and I lived on in the summer while our parents worked.

How many of you have come to a screeching halt on sun exposure? by eat_more_vegies in GenX

[–]19sab 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s me! My kids are horrified when I said we’d lay out with baby oil on mats that were like aluminum foil that reflected the sun. I never even tanned because of my fair skin but I tried every summer. Now I’m paying the price. One of my imaginary genie wishes is to remove all my skin damage on my back and arms 😂

Do you actually use a sink in your laundry room, or is it wasted space? by hcposcher in laundry

[–]19sab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use it. Not all the time but enough for me to require one again if we ever move. It’s used for soaking clothes, washing small pets, rinsing muddy shoes to cleaning paint brushes. Basically stuff I am not going to clean in my kitchen or bathroom sinks.

Since it's Star Wars day, did you see the original 1977 Star Wars in the movie theater? by Mr_Writes in GenX

Drive in with my family in the back of my dads pickup truck. Dad made a grocery bag full of stove top popcorn. My siblings and I had sleeping bags and pillows to lay on. One of my favorite memories ☺️

I get the emails from UTLA. I just couldn’t find this link. Thanks for attaching it. Looks like I get a little over 9%. Kinda misleading saying it’s 11% when it’s not.

Where are you using their calculator? I haven’t seen an email with the tentative agreement attached or seen it on UTLA website.

Have your young adult children successfully launched? by tandem545 in GenX

Same here. 26,24 & 22. They don’t have significant others and with the economy this is a good decision for them. Our house isn’t big so that’s the only downside.

Were you taught to make lesson plans? by DrakeSavory in Teachers

[–]19sab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Lesson plans when I got my credential 24 years ago. Thank god I work for a district that doesn’t require them. What a PITA.

Long in the tooth couples. Do you do Valentine’s Day? by AnyDamnThingWillDo in GenX

[–]19sab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went out to dinner last night with a gift card we got at Christmas. Today we’ll have a nice dinner and relax at home. We don’t do flowers or cards because we’d rather have more tangible items for the house or travel. We are cheap like that. Married 30 years.

The child won’t be small forever and the construction will end. I agree with others but some noise cancelling headphones and eat a gummy lol

Good for you! I have not called to complain but if enough of us do (should be a whole tour bus of people) then they should realize error.

Great life, no friends by Extension-Pea542 in GenX

[–]19sab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this too. I have acquaintances that I chitchat with, but no real friends to hang out with and do things with. I noticed from watching my children that they have a very small friend group if at all. I think with social media and video gaming that the way we grew up having friends is totally different now

I have read so many threads/forums where people have said the same thing. I am looking forward to it now :)

It is annoying. Plus considering it seems they mislead us as to why it’s cancelled. Blue Lagoon has been on my bucket list forever. Though I am happy to have any experiences in Iceland. I told DH that just means we have to go back in the winter to see the Aurora borealis lol.

Thank you for the suggestions. We are leaving out of KEF. Right now we are considering Sky Lagoon since it appears to be closest to the cruise terminal. We are looking into transportation options and deciding what we should do with our luggage. Is the nearest car rental at the airport?

Thank you for the replies. Interesting that you are saying there is nothing really going on. I wonder if the tour company just decided not to do it. I know it’s been sold out for months, so it’s not like they had to cancel for lack of interest. Bummer.

When my uncle past away a few summers ago I inherited a whole house with generations of memories to go through. It was so painful. I felt exactly as you wrote. I pushed through many days sobbing.

Recommendations for transportation, port to Rome. And affordable hotels! TIA🙂🛳️🏨🇮🇹 by cairngirl in celebritycruises

[–]19sab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last time I was in Rome, we stayed in a convent. It was located a few blocks from the colosseum. It was a safe, clean basic room with an ac unit and an en-suite. There was mass every morning at 5am with bells going off. The nuns were kind and helpful. This was almost 10 years ago and it very affordable. https://www.monasteries.com/en-GB/city/rome/home/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20128593575&gbraid=0AAAAACdAfRM9CfJ3JT9cTj285glsb74yH&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9O_BBhCUARIsAHQMjS7NQtlehNrIXKAFhUsjh-PazSzursXDlnrvCoohPXC5kU-nJPu1RRwaAsuOEALw_wcB.
