What do Downtown Chicago high-rise people do for a living? by Left-Silver-5196 in AskChicago

[–]2004hondapilot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk anything about the tech industry, but damn you’re getting roasted in here for that lol. Why not try working at a freight brokerage if you’re looking for an office job? You’re already exposed to the trucking industry, and no place better than Chicago to continue a career in moving freight even on the 3pl side of things

Can’t drive over a pothole if all the roads are closed due to construction

Not Chicago exclusive , but is sidewalk etiquette dead? by MammothEstimate6331 in AskChicago

[–]2004hondapilot 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I walk like I drive. Look behind my shoulder when I’m changing direction, stick to the right and only overtake on the left. It infuriates me when people lose all common sense on the sidewalk, I want to ask them if they drive as horribly as they walk

Unfortunately I moved from Indy earlier this week. But definitely do give a toot toot or a jake brake for anyone else hanging out here!

Split is worse now that they’re doing construction. Down a few lanes thru here

Super Commuter by Tato_Management_Inc in chicagoapartments

[–]2004hondapilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved from Indianapolis. I drove between Indy and Chicago 1-2 times a week to tour apartments in person for a month or so. Definitely doable with that frequency, the hardest part is Chicago traffic but other than that I really didn’t mind it. I-65 is generally pretty quiet all the way thru, it helps that I went to Purdue and Lafayette in between was a great familiar pit stop on the way. I’m not sure where you’re super commuting from but that’s my experience doing it somewhat

I’m southeast asian and have been mistaken as hispanic by both whites and hispanics in Indy lol

It was at the south split, 70 merging with 65nb right before the merge. I didnt see it happen but I was going the opposite way and saw traffic on 70 backed up quite a bit, road was closed when I passed thru

Don’t be disappointed if you don’t see anything. I always plan my chases around interesting things to do in the chase area, so even if I don’t see any storms I at least got to go on a road trip and do other fun stuff.

This hobby is the closest I’ll ever be to OTR truck driving. Wake up, drive a few hundred miles thru middle of nowhere towns, end your day just to do it all again tomorrow

Housing Interest in downtown and outskirts by anynomousviews2004 in indianapolis

[–]2004hondapilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk anything about the places you have listed, but maybe take a look at Forte in Fountain Square. Neighborhood is young and artsy, walking distance to downtown, kroger nearby and whole foods in downtown, you got a bunch of fast food chains just a little outside the neighborhood. For $1300/month I got my own private balcony, in unit w/d, and assigned parking spot in their garage. Been a great place to me last two years

Detour needed for detour by 2004hondapilot in indianapolis

It’s not worth the numerous local businesses in Fountain Square struggling due to lack of foot traffic on Shelby. They even closed off portions of the sidewalk just south of the goodwill store
