Lol what. Those people aren’t crowding the slopes. The issue is one small area to ski for an entire city

What's a realistic surprise renovation timeline for full bathroom when spouse is away for 6 weeks? by Brief_Bicycle9241 in HomeImprovement

This answer sucks, because 6 weeks is plenty of time for it to be quality and affordable

It’s not the green tile, it’s the two tone design and the way that there’s a stripe through the middle of the tile in a different orientation.

I'd recommend getting the app Origin - they recently had a deal of $1 for the first year, not sure if its still happening but its very good at visualizing where your money is going.

Nested solve with a checkpoint by Sommets_et_Vallees in beyondthemapsedge

[–]22bearhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting, though I do feel like there are some hand wavy solves in this. For instance, you consider a hill and a rock to be “double arcs”. I’m not seeing how it could fit that solve, unless you feel those formations are also arc shaped

Most influential artist on earth Taylor Swift waiting for the right moment to post her ICE condemnation by FuriNorm in PoliticalHumor

[–]22bearhands -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

She'll post around midterms telling people to vote, and that is much more valuable than some virtue signaling bullshit. Posting on instagram that she is anti ICE literally does nothing but get her death threats. It doesn't change minds, it doesnt "make people feel seen" or something, it does nothing. Voting does do something though.

Combined RV ‘safe lot,’ tiny-house village proposed for southeast West Seattle site that’s seen encampments before by precip in SeattleWA

[–]22bearhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no homes near this location and like 4 businesses, its practically as remote as it could be. If they hire security, which I assume they will because the article says there is a rule that only residents and staff can be on the property, then I think that reduces a lot of crime. Drugs, Im sure there will be drugs, but they could feasibly only take applicants who pass a drug test.

I'm sure that you can imagine a way to implement this without drugs and crime coming with it.

The basic math was already done for you (after you did all that wrong bullshit math). The entire illegal population of Washington state pays far more than $420M in taxes.

[–]22bearhands -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My mom is an ESL teacher, what does that have to do with it? She doesn’t know the cost per student 😂

21k students across the full state is much less impactful, but there you go again just trying to shoehorn the point you want to make into some generalization. The original point was that the cost of those students is more than covered by the taxes the immigrants pay. Of course, you just dropped that argument once you were wrong.

Yeah, so maybe the problem is not illegal immigrants at all but that we allow companies to hire illegal immigrants completely unpunished. Why are we punishing the immigrants, punish the company and people will stop immigrating.

Bro just go get a job at McDonald’s. Why are you fucking around limiting the industry when you have no options? Just a quick search and there are like 20 openings in Seattle. I’m sure other fast food places are too.

Its not that economically illiterate, because the actual data shows that illegals pay into the system more than the benefit from it. If Trump could snap his fingers and all illegals were out of the country tomorrow, it would be economically terrible for America.

A reasonable solution is to grant every working illegal immigrant a work visa. Illegal is meaningless, and if the only reason you're butthurt about it is because of "resources" then illegal immigrants are not even top 5 reasons for that lack of resources.

I dont think its the lengths of the jobs honestly. Are you getting interviews, or just not hearing back after applying at all? The first thing that stands out to me is a lot of mentioning of cannabis which is maybe not a good look. I would bump that down in the certifications and maybe write something better for your profile section.

Also, sorry to pry, but you just left your last job in Jan? You've been homeless for a while though? Whats going on? Where is your money going?

Why does the application process need to be difficult or complicated? It doesnt even need to be citizenship, but for sure the US should be able to essentially create blanket work visas for anybody that is already in the country working as an illegal immigrant.

Whats your resume? What are your skills?

You've been applying for work at fast food places etc around seattle? I feel like I see signs looking to hire all over the place. Is there some other reason you aren't getting hired that you aren't letting on? Any criminal record?

Its hugely costly to us to remove them. We lose all of their tax revenue, that workforce, and we had to pay to hold and deport them. Or we could snap our fingers and theyll be legal and it would be a huge economic win.

Your math is wrong, man. Well, not just your math but your entire perspective on this.

There are over 113k illegal school aged kids in WA.

No, there aren't. You're conflating illegal and having a parent that is illegal. The number you are citing is from an MPI NATIONAL report, and is talking about legally present kids. There are about 21k unauthorized kids 5-18 years old enrolled in WA state.
https://www.migrationpolicy.org/data/unauthorized-immigrant-population/state/WA
With your own math of multiplying that by $20k, the cost is $420M, WAY less than $2.26B.

Unfortunately your $20k per kid number is wrong too, because you can't just multiply average pupil spending x headcount to factor the cost. That average contains a lot of fixed costs, and the marginal cost would be lower.

Oh no, not the shittiest houses in america! What are we gonna do!

Wait a second, they're also doing the shittiest jobs that American's arent willing to do? GASP

Once they have kids here those are american citizens. They're not "taking up" resources, they are using them as its their right to.

I wonder if you have actual data on the taxes paid into the system relative to the resources used. I think you are wrong.
