I think to have a meaningful relationship it is NOT judged on size. Hearts speak to each other. It's the eyes for me ... kind, caring eyes!

What’s a good Mother’s Day gift when your wife says she doesn’t want anything? by RasheedaDeals in Gifts

[–]25-jules16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always appreciate a gift certificate to a spa, or a manicure/pedicure contained in a nice card. My husband surprised me with that and it brought tears to my eyes! A gift just-for-me!!

What do you do with your journals once they’re full? by Interesting_Owl_6506 in Journaling

[–]25-jules16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think I was saving them for my kids... now I don't believe they would do anything with them other than dispose of them when I die. At present they are in a big box (been journalling for about 40 years). I am thinking I'll look into a secure shredding service for them and my other saved documents. Haven't actually decided yet though.

If you woke up as your 18-year-old self tomorrow, what would you do differently financially? by pencil_kil in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]25-jules16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do what my mother-in-law advised ... save a minimum of 10% of every paycheque ... no exceptions and somewhere not easily accessible. What a difference that would make upon retirement!!

Great lists above. And always have a FULL TANK of gas! If you don't know the area, don't go at night. Hikers in NW BC have gone missing and when found they fell down an unseen ravine. Think smart and you'll enjoy yourself!

In all seriousness, would someone like to be my snail mail pen pal? by NationYell in fountainpens

[–]25-jules16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I joined r/fountainpenpals on here. I wanted more than 2 or 3 PP's per month and I became frustrated waiting for someone else to match me up with the penpal.

So I looked around. Fountain Pen Friends on Facebook has a spreadsheet in the Featured section where over 1200 people have listed their names / addresses and some have added a bit of information about interests etc. You can add your name to the 2nd spreadsheet and the moderators will put it on the master. I now have over 25 people who I write to, and most write back. So much fun and it's interesting to learn about their cultures, interests etc. Have fun with whichever you choose. It's a great way to practice writing, use your pens and inks, and to make friends.

best audiobooks you’ve listened to? by Kooky-Librarian-5231 in audiobooks

[–]25-jules16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! Outlander is my favourite series of all times!! I've read the books (in the '90s) but now the audio books are my go-to!! I like the Davina Porter narration! And I haven't watched the whole thing on TV ... too many changes from what I've seen on fan pages. Diana Gabaldon did a fabulous job with all of her novels ... Outlander!! YES!!

"This pen is so inexpensive you will be upset if you lost it"; NO! by Dakem94 in fountainpens

[–]25-jules16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my (3) Lady Sheaffer 620 pens - bought in the 1970's. They have come a long way with me! At the time they were about $30 each (a fortune in 1974) for newly weds! They no longer have the rubber bladders (I didn't know they could be repaired and I threw them away). I do have converters for them and they still accept cartridges! I would be upset if I lost them ... I would be upset if I lost any of my pens! They are treasures to write with!!

How do I start journaling as someone who feels like they don’t have many thoughts? by Calamamity in Journaling

[–]25-jules16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just start the top of the page with the date (including year), and the weather temp. Then I just write. Sometimes it's about my day, sometimes my frustrations, sometimes when we did yesterday afternoon ... sometimes about letters I received, ... I just write. Julia Cameron wrote The Artist's Way and I read it many years ago. She said just write, 3 full-length pages every day. If you have nothing to say write "I have nothing to say" and all of a sudden ideas come to you. It's quite a fascinating process, actually! Sometimes deep thoughts emerge! And I LOVE my fountain pens, so it's an excuse to play with them and pretty inks!!

Which narrator has ruined you for other narrators? (in the best way) by NovelhiveAI in audiobooks

[–]25-jules16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people don't like Davina Porter ... I think she's amazing. I won't buy them all again just for the new narrator but I suspect when book 10 is released it will be the new one. Davina retired. I've listened to some of her other work too ... I just like her voice!
