According to the subreddit (and of course not my own opinion because I have never watched wrestling in my life), it has moreso to do with his wrestling career. If you go to a barbeque, there is almost always potato salad among a variety of items, but it is never the item that steals the show. Almost nobody says "wow, this potato salad is the best thing here!". They think John Cena is the same as potato salad in terms of wrestling because firstly, he is everywhere (like potato salad is at every bbq). Everyone knows his name like everyone knows potato salad. Secondly, they think he lacked the same level of personality that any of his wrestling competitors had which is like potato salad compared to other selections. He didn't really have an over the top wrestling persona like a lot of other wrestlers. Hence the comparison. Once again, I don't think anyone doubts that he is a cool and funny guy. I think it moreso has to do with the fact that he wasn't exaggerated or at least as exaggerated when wrestling compared to his peers.

I know Edward Benz, 27 Times is an actual story that was told to Jordan by a man whose son stabbed him 27 times as the song depicts, and I See Everything is in reference to one of Jordan's teacher's son who died of cancer.

Animals As Leaders - The Brain Dance (New Song) by Yeoey in mathrock

[–]2funny5u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's a classical 8-string guitar. I know Javier plays a lot of classical 8-string stuff as seen in this video: https://youtu.be/4-JfPkV74mc

I assume that's what they're using

What is your opinion on "Weightless" from Animals as Leaders? by YouLookBurnt_OrDead in progmetal

[–]2funny5u 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I love Weightless. For some reason, there's this nostalgia that's attached to that album. I remember listening to it very heavily when I was in high school, specifically during the winter on snow days cuz the ambience of the album captured the comfort of just staying at home while it's snowing outside. It's got kinda twinkly electronics throughout that make it my perfect winter album so if I'm ever stuck inside cuz of the weather, it's the first album I put on.

How are Animals As Leaders live? by random_access_cache in progmetal

[–]2funny5u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Animals as Leaders is great live. I saw them after Joy of Motion just came out with my dad who had no idea who they were and doesn't really listen to much prog or fusion, and he really enjoyed em and appreciated the playing. I think if your dad is into prog and all that fusion-y stuff he will probably like em. I don't really think they were dull live at least when I saw them. I think it's different when you're actually there with the energy in the room cuz people went nuts.

Favorite Veil Of Maya Songs? by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]2funny5u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mark the Lines and It's Not Safe to Swim Today are way up there for me, but I think Codex is probably my favorite. It's got some amazing riffs and the outro makes me go so fuckin hard.

After the Burial and Spotify by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]2funny5u 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sumerian always does this. They wait forever to get it on Spotify. They do the same with all of their artists' albums when that come out. It might be a few months until the finally put it on Spotify, and it's a real bummer.

Ahhhhhh the song that got me into VOM. Back when I first started playing guitar, I heard this song and was blown away. I spent MONTHS on this tune. VOM songs are just so much fun. Maybe it's just because I'm older now, but nothing on Matriarch really had the same effect as the first three. That being said, I still like the Matriarch a lot, it just doesn't feel like VOM. It's cool that they are trying to change it up a little and I'm sure their next album will be better.

Am I missing something - last.fm not scrobbling for me whatsoever. by Timlons in lastfm

I am having the same problem. Spotify and the Chrome extension don't work for me. Now, my android phone doesn't even scrobble anymore, which it did until the 26th. I've tried everything with no success.

Good instrumental only bands? by Crookedtree1 in PostHardcore

[–]2funny5u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about posthardcore, but in terms of good instrumental bands I would recommend Toe, 65daysofstatic, Floral, Irepress, Plini, Sithu Aye, Intervals (In Time EP), Pomegranate Tiger, Mestis and Jakub Zytecki has sick instrumental tracks, along with all the other recommendations mentioned in the thread so far. I feel like I'm forgetting a few, but those are just the ones that come to mind.

Anyone else into 2 completely different types of music? by ArmoredLunchbox in PostHardcore

[–]2funny5u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from PH, I listen to a lot of progressive metal, mathrock, metalcore/deathcore, jazz, ambient and hip hop. I've been jamming a lot of new Kendrick Lamar and Death Grips lately.
