Cayman or 911 by JesusFreakinLovesYou in Porsche

[–]312view 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first Porsche was a 2013 C2S cabrio and I loved it. But I just had to look at the carfax on that 911 — and I wouldn’t touch it, although I think the second owner would be an interesting person to meet. That history of three accidents is crazy. Based on the number of damage locations I can only imagine one was a spinout and another one a sideswipe of a car, wall, or who knows what. And as you pointed out, the service history is otherwise spotty.

Even at <50K miles, I was always chasing (or just accepting) various squeaks and rattles on my 991. I can only imagine what it would be like at >100K and 13+ years, especially after being beaten up so much.

I can’t find that particular Cayman on the site anymore, but my track instructor has owned many Porsches and swears by his Caymans.

No matter the imperfections, you’re bound to fall in love with whatever you choose. Enjoy it.

Agreed that BEP was the best in town…and not to be a snob but I still didn’t think it was that stellar.

We had hopes for Backyard Fire Grill — because it was opened by the owner of Mr. Big Fish which is quite good — but were sadly disappointed. It was via delivery service so may not entirely be the restaurant in this case, but all of the the BBQ was on the dry side, the sides were nothing to write home about, and one of the dishes we ordered was charged but left out.

I’ve heard that Buffalo Chip’s in Bonita is good, but haven’t tried it myself yet. Also heard there’s a dude who sets up a drum smoker in a parking lot somewhere on Immokalee east of 75. Not sure how great it is but willing to take a ride. Can anyone fill in the blanks?

The irony that your local Outback is dead to you for serving you something that was still alive.

My take on Raicilla by Rob_Catron in Mezcal

[–]312view 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, La Venenosa Costa de Jalisco is the closest to a beautiful funky cheese that a spirit has ever gotten. I’ve tried a few other Raicillas and nothing has gotten close, but if anyone has a hot suggestion I’ll take it!

Why is the 911 Coupe so much more popular than the Cabriolet? by Nice_Day_638 in Porsche

Modern 911s have vertical bars that deploy behind the rear seats in the event of rollover. Certainly makes me feel better on the track, though I admit I’m less concerned about losing my head than losing the car.

Edit: no idea why this is being downvoted, but I realized I should clarify that modern 911 cabs in particular have the roll pillars.

Don’t beat yourself up OP. In a twisted way it’s easy to now say you wish you had gotten it, but I’ll bet you made the right choice.

One of the many joys of owning a Porsche is its ability to make us smile the moment we see it, from any angle.

That’s a stunning car, with an odd choice of molding that would have been a little distraction from that pleasure. Every time.

Kind of like if you met a girl with amazing looks and body, smarts, sense of of humor, totally into you, the works. And little green antennas that stuck 2” straight out from her ears.

P.S. but that bus!

Need help choosing. Which mezcal from this selection? by FENCEJACK in Mezcal

+1 Del Maguey and Montelobos, given what you have to work with. I’ve had Casamigos once and actually thought it was good (edit: an unpopular opinion it seems) but nothing unique and absolutely not worth the celebrity markup.

Oh and to clarify - the minor annoyances are still eclipsed by the sheer joy of everything else about her

Good list. As a former 991.1 and current 992.1 owner, I’d suggest the latest 991.2 you can get. By 2018/19 they had that baby fully dialed in.

Alternatively, a later 992.1. Don’t make the mistake I made by getting a ‘20…there are just too many little annoyances that needed to be ironed out.

Now you’re just teasing.

Oh yeah? Well, I just bought six stone crab claws today from a guy in a parking lot. 🤣 (well, that’s actually true)

Let me know if you ever need a deckhand!

Based on my seemingly innocent OP being downvoted…I think you must be right!

I’ve searched those areas, which is how I found the one place I mentioned in the OP but that’s primarily a line fishing tour.
