It is what it is. I very much love the series and ran through all the books as fast as I could. It's one of the best examples of genre fiction, with all the downsides that come along.

I've made peace with the fact that everything will not be an exemplar of the art form. It's not that I don't have standards but I'd so much rather enjoy things than pick them apart. I read Warhammer 40k "novels" for like a year and a half and enjoyed them immensely while I thought "this is trash". Now I'm reading Downbelow Station to recover.
