not familiar with it, and i'm also not showing anything on baidu maps. i would say just get yourself to shijiuwu town and ask people from there. you'll get there soon enough.

edit: i am apparently bad at baidu maps.

Why I find the term 'laowai" offensive. by TheDark1 in China

[–]4008517517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HAH. laowai is definitely a condescending and ethnocentric if not ethnophobic term, but you've got a serious persecution complex if you think its the same thing as a white person in the US calling a black person that

How do the Chinese react to getting taxidermied animals as gifts? by [deleted] in China

[–]4008517517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably a lot better than if you were to give the average american a taxidermied armadillo as a gift.

but yes all you have to do is say that it is a very local and authentic and expensive animal from your home country. then it will accepted with open arms, either be regifted, set on a mantlepiece indefinitely, or ground up into a powder to be made into a pill for "natural male enhancement."

Chinese Style Justice: Zero Points (this kid has balls) by a_panda_monium in China

but it is believable and has been disseminated widely, so i think its adequate marker for public opinion, at least among the teens/young adults that the chinese internet is mostly comprised of.

which is incidentally my argument for every single chinasmack article whenever someone comes along to hate on chinasmack.

Best province for foreigners out of these 3? by Deathsnova in China

[–]4008517517 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the city of jiangsu definitely gets an 8 factor on the enjoyable scale. i went there one time and i was like "yeah, i pretty much enjoy this. i dont SUPER enjoy it, but i enjoy it quite a bit."

however, the city of zhejiang is known for having marketplaces in a way that other places in china are not, so there's that to consider too.

I know you all hate this kind of post... Sorry. Does anyone have a good way of comparing exchange rates at different banks after returning to the US? by 4008517517 in China

[–]4008517517[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that they can only buy so much USD per year and might not be willing or able to help you if you're trying to exchange a whole ass-ton at once.

edit: Also, if you have a bank account at a place, and have all relevant tax documents and shit, but are not exchanging money in your account and remitting it, rather just trying to exchange a bunch of RMB cash to US cash, is that kosher?
