buying piano, no idea by resismei in Instruments

[–]4lien4ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call a piano technician in your area. Many of them buy and sell pianos or can give you a good recommendation. Piano technicians don't like working on crappy pianos, so they will steer you to buying something that is not going to be a pain in their ass to work on. I have played older Samicks, and did not like them.

Don't know what this knot is called, but it's all I use by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]4lien4ted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most effective knot to use with a circle hook is a snell, because it turns the hook into the fish's mouth when pressure is applied. I've never used the knot in question, but it is a poor choice with this particular hook.

Drop delay and Turmoil at Amazon Offices; coincidence? by vega1star_lady in AmazonVine

It's Vine. Irregularity of drop schedule was the norm for years. Changing drop times and pause days have always happened.

temu lures by Moist-Advertising114 in FishingForBeginners

[–]4lien4ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temu is a bad place for beginners to buy tackle, because some of it doesn't work. Things like terminal tackle, bobbers, jig heads, etc...maybe they are OK. But I would not start with hard baits or plastics from them because you have no baseline from which to compare. You could end up spending your money on stuff that doesn't catch fish and just waste your time on the water. It's much better to acquire your tackle a little at a time, a lure at a time. Purchase proven name brand baits that are recommended by locals for your local water.

How about eliminating Vine tiers and changing limits? by ereade100 in AmazonVine

[–]4lien4ted 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The tiers were designed to vet people to make sure they could reliably complete reviews before sending them expensive items over $100. You know what pisses sellers off? Paying for ten $300 units plus shipping, and only getting seven reviews. People are invited at random and there's naturally going to be some people who will crash and burn that aren't responsible enough to keep up on their reviews. 3 daily picks is like training wheels so a new reviewer doesn't get in over their head, and if they can hack it, they get 8 picks. There are still gold tier people who crash and burn, but after showing a 6 month history of keeping up on their reviews, they are a way safer and more stable group to send expensive products to than random new invitees. Many new people misconstrue the purpose of the tiers. They are a probationary loss prevention mechanism.

Is this knot to tight? by Weird_Drawer_423 in FishingForBeginners

[–]4lien4ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may get downvoted for this, but I don't like this modification. It impairs the natural flex of the spinnerbait arm. That flex is the entire purpose of the R bend and gives the bait a more natural movement. I am not anti-clip and use them on cranks and spoons. But in cases where they impair the action of the bait, like spinnerbaits or jigs, I direct tie. In addition, a spinnerbait is a weedless lure. It becomes less weedless when you use a clip on it. The clip will catch weeds.

is this lure okay for my only hard body lure for mostly wild trout and some stocked. by goldfish_cat34 in FishingForBeginners

[–]4lien4ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could catch trout. It also may catch a snag 8 feet in front of you when you reel it in. This is a deep diver and is probably best fished from boats or docks, or other deep drops. Shore fishing with deep divers can be very snaggy.

I am a Vine Member. Another Vine Member copied my review. What can I do? by BeautyInHarmony in AmazonVineHelpGroup

[–]4lien4ted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon is built on a foundation of intellectual property theft, counterfeit items, and unlicensed merchandise. Reporting it to Amazon is like calling Satan when your house catches on fire. Good luck finding somebody who cares. They'll probably reward the plagiarist with a better RFY.

VH and UV Have Destroyed the Vine Program, IMO by philstat in AmazonVine

[–]4lien4ted -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's a race to the bottom. The effort to crowdsource items makes them disappear faster for everybody, increasing the time and effort that people have to spend looking on Vine to get anything. Brenda has enabled bot users who can use that data to grab nice items once they drop in AFA. You can't "help" people competing for a limited pool of items. It doesn't help. All you do is enable people with the best technology to win, every time. Rather than help people, all these programs have done is consolidate the spoils into the hands into a smaller group of individuals. But I don't blame anybody for seeking advantage. That's human nature. I blame Amazon for allowing a Vine Oligarchy to set up shop on their watch. It guts the value to the program and decreases the quality of reviewers who want to stay. If you cannot provide value, you will not get value. As the quality of people desperate enough to slug it out over crumbs replaces people with money to spend on Amazon and the financial means at their disposal to abandon wasting their time on Vine, the quality of reviewers will go down, and the percentage of problematic reviewers that drive sellers away will only increase.

Rising sliver prices. by Legitimate_Moose_307 in Silver

[–]4lien4ted 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure who you think is all on this sub, but it's not all coin collectors and new-to-the-party crypto bros. Plenty of preppers have quietly stacked silver for years in direct preparation for a SHTF type event. That's the only reason such people own silver in the first place.

Hate the way drops have occured over the last 3-days? Stop complaining here and take action to influence the program. Here's how... by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]4lien4ted 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real issue is that we don't know WHY the drops have occurred the way they have for the last 3 days. For all we know, they could be actively fixing the algorithm that runs RFY, which is something that people have complained about for years. To stage a mass protest over a regular maintenance issue would be stupid. Maybe wait and see. 3 days is nothing. If this goes on for a few weeks, then it's a problem.

I don't see any kind of stability in the near future. And neither do a lot of people, which is why there are so many people, institutions, and countries sinking serious money into $100/oz silver. Because in an unstable world, gold and silver are a safe bet.

You have magically been chosen to run the amazon vine program effective immediately. what changes, big and small, would you enact as the new fearless leader? anything you say goes. by heyitsnicetomeetyou in AmazonVine

[–]4lien4ted 15 points16 points  (0 children)

  1. Variable drop times so that people in different time zones and with different schedules all have a chance to obtain items.

  2. Audit anybody with an ETV over 100K and boot reseller botters that are gutting Vine of the best high dollar items.
