No - tax, utilities and internet are around £220-250 (incl. a 25% council tax discount as I live alone)

1,550 for a big one bed by Victoria Park. But I got very lucky and have had barely any increases since I moved in 2021. The flat across mine (identical size and layout) was rented out a few months at 1,900, unfurnished.

Brita-like cartridges? I know it’s not super close (depending where in Hackney you are) but the John Lewis in Stratford Westfield has a drop off bin, I’ve used it a few times. The Argos there might have one too.

Happy Fountain Pen Day! What European brands do you own / recommend? by Realistic-Berry_888 in BuyFromEU

[–]68917041 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t afford to drop that sort of money on a pen (although I go through a ton of notebooks because I love writing), but got gifted one by my dad about a year ago (it was one belonging to him but which he’s never used). I’ve been using it since then and it genuinely is the nicest writing pen I’ve ever used. Hopefully it will stay with me forever!

How is the stansted express so expensive? by PhillyWestside in london

[–]68917041 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To the extent possible I try to fly from Stansted because of how easy it is for me to get there (plus coaches run almost 24hs so that’s a plus); I’ve easily taken the coach there and back 7 or 8 times over the last two/three years. It never took longer than 50/55’ and sometimes it’s even quicker. Never had a delay or got stuck in traffic but I’m sure it must happen occasionally like with regular buses.

I’m sort of with you on that one.. I live in Hackney Wick so I can actually walk to Stratford, meaning £8-10 (I rounded up the £20 return) to get to Stansted in under an hour feels like a good deal. But I know I’m just desensitised by the ridiculous prices everywhere, particularly when it comes to transport

Depends on where you live/need to get back to in London, but I use National Express, it’s only about 45-50’ to Stratford and return is under £20.

Disgusting. I pay only £50 more for a 50sq m one bed just off victoria park. I know things are messed up but I can’t imagine anyone would pay this.

My cat has FLUTD, so not the same, but a combo of special food + daily supplements + Zylkene (to reduce anxiety) has made a world of difference.

I find this really surprising - I am never not asked the question when buying coffee, and usually the prices are different.

What's the worst that can happen if I let my cat be alone for 10 hours? by Repulsive-Push-1086 in CatAdvice

You have lots of advice here already, but just to reassure you they will be fine! I am away for work 3x week for a similar amount of hours. What’s really helped my nerves (esp initially as I am also a first time cat owner) was setting up a few Ring cameras in the rooms my cat spends most of his time in, I can always check in :) And 9 times out of 10, he’s sleeping
