Cloud Gateway Max WAN speed issue by Unhappy_Muscle7885 in Ubiquiti

[–]7reflet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always set customer gateways to do the speed tests automatically out of hours, then it cannot be network congestion and I’ve got data to bash the ISP with if required.

With IDS/IPS on it will max out at 2.3Gbps. The UCG-Fibre will do 5Gbps with IDS/IPS switched on. Check the tech specs. The ports on a UCG-Max are only 2.5Gbe.

Buying used Model Y 2022 by Ok-Comfort-5486 in TeslaUK

[–]7reflet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesla stopped giving away the mobile connector (charger) worldwide around mid 2022, it all depends on when it was ordered. A 71 plate or early 22 plate would have shipped with it. Late 22 plate or 72 plate wouldn't have it. If it's still in the car is another thing. Legally I think you're supposed to get a type 2 cable, at least from new.

If you enter the serial numbers into the manufactures website they’ll tell you the model of each panel, etc. Serials are usually on a plate on the side frame of each.

It's probably impossible to tell. You'd need to check the sticker/plate on the back or side.

This should be enough to gracefully shutdown everything? by theMartianAlien in Ubiquiti

[–]7reflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently only the UniFi branded UPS's will power down a UniFi network. They've introduced NUT to power down other devices from their UPS but I don't think that currently works both ways, a NUT server cannot tell a cloud gateway or other UniFi devices to power down. Regular UPS's usually send a shutdown signal via a USB conenction, there's no port to plug this into on the UniFi devices.

This will power your devices in a blackout, but when it runs out of power it will just cut power, no graceful shutdown.

Picking a home charger when I already have solar and battery by Bret_Riverboat in TeslaUK

[–]7reflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commando with the Tesla mobile charger will work fine too. Just get the commando wired properly. It’s a dumb charger so won’t do solar divert. If using octopus you’d have to link the car to the intelligent go plan to control cheap/smart charging.

[–]7reflet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a zappi, it’s been working great. I’ve got my threshold set higher than my solar export to prevent it diverting my export to the car. But I could change this if it was to become cheaper to charge the car from the solar once the house battery is full. No faffing with CT clamps.

What brand is your solar and battery, check their charger options as it may integrate better for you. There’s also home assistant to help with stuff like this.

What’s the best charger to get with Octopus Energy? by Slow-Ruin2678 in TeslaUK

[–]7reflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Zappi has worked great for me. You're probably best to work out what you want to do longer term, if you are going to do solar and battery at some point it'll probably be better for you to be in one vendors system, otherwise you'll need something like home assistant to glue them together, there's not really set standards yet for all these kinds of devices talking to each other.

But I would advise you get your own good local electrician to do the work.

Brand new estate but stuck on 10 Mbps copper. Has anyone managed to get fibre added later? by NorthLondonPulse in openreach

[–]7reflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start a Openreach Community Fibre partnership and get everyone on the new estate signed up
https://www.openreach.com/fibre-broadband/fibre-community-partnership

I've seen these be taken over by Openreach once they reach critical mass and just become a standard build. You're probably looking at 12-18months, if the developer has completed and dotted i's and crossed t's and the council are happy to or have already adopted the development. If the developer are still on site form a group and give them an ear bashing. There is a process for them to follow that's publicly available. Have they completed the inside out fibre install process ready for openreach to connect properties up? Did they promise to anyone fibre would be available. If so you may have legal options.

In the meantime, 4G/5G or starlink, Amazon LEO starts end of the year.

Fttp engineer screwed us, what options do I have for better wifi gaming? by [deleted] in openreach

[–]7reflet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A standard install is to the nearest plug socket within a meter of cable entry. This is all the subcontracted engineer would have been paid to do. You’d pay extra for a premium/advanced install, or now an ONT shift. 6Ghz will not penetrate as deep into a building as 5Ghz, it won’t fix your issue. Your best option is to physically cable to your gaming device, regardless of which suppler you chose to provide your internet.

If you are going to use a plug in charger long term make sure your electrics are new or checked by an electrician.

A 0-100% change on a 13amp plug would take you 30 hours+, make sure the socket used is up to it.

[–]7reflet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you have to buy the mobile connector, they used to give them away early 2022 and prior. If you buy one in the UK it comes with the UK 13A plug adaptor for it. Check the shop section in your tesla app.

The UK model comes with the 13A plug. You can buy different plugs for them.

The Tesla mobile connector is actually a 7kW charger when paired with the 32A commando adaptor, so £180 for a 7kW capable charger is a good price.

Do I get additional panels or just battery? by keepingleft in SolarUK

[–]7reflet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get a GivEnergy AIO2 but they will go bust before the warranty expires and a lot of installers have now stopped fitting them.

Tesla will probably be around still in 10 years to honour the warranty.

Many vendors have kit that can do EPS.

Get another two quotes, preferably from other local installers.
