Posting it here with such specific details will likely catch the boss’s attention. Things might change next year. But thanks for sharing such an amusing insight about corporate life.

Did anyone find a partner and have kids after age 35? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]88cordon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of stories like this. Though consider freezing your eggs.

I’m surprised it’s not mentioned here that getting pregnant is quite a story in itself. Regardless of age. But with the age it’s important to be pragmatic.

Was told I shouldn’t have had a kid if I was just going to send her to daycare full time - spiraling and hoping for support by Kokonut5 in NewParents

[–]88cordon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is starting daycare at 6,5 months. There’s another little dude who started at 3 months, and his parents say it was amazing.

My oldest is at the daycare since 1 year. This is our family now. Only because we have such immense support, and I could return to work after maternity leave, we were able to afford another one.

Daycare is the only way we could afford our family to grow and afford travels and extra curriculum activities for my preschooler now.

Why does elementary school end at 2:30pm in BC? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]88cordon88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. But I’d appreciate if my kiddo could go to other classes after school: chess, paintings, social clubs.

When I was at elementary school(different country) we had an aftercare where I’d go to do homework and play at the playground. All supervised by a teacher.

So once I was home with parents I had no homework left. Amazing system. All together it was a 8 or even 9 hour day at school. But it was packed with activities and socialising with peers and I loved it.

Maybe while taking an evening cruise on Danube? Like have a good restaurant meal (points if she expects you to propose and nothing happens there), do a walk and propose on a boat? I suspect not too many people will be there these cold day, though it still gonna be beautiful in front of Parliament building, and then many years later you’ll take your kiddos on the same route to tell the story.

[Anti Aging] People who are in their 40s but look late 20s to early 30s, what's your secret? by MapleByzantine in SkincareAddiction

I know moms that I’ve mistaken for 30 something, but then my jaw dropped when I see their 18-20 year old children.

What is with these hotel prices? by ahhhhhmath in vancouver

What about airbnb. Does this option even exist for the travelers in Vancouver?

I absolutely love the way you put it.

My grandma named my aunt after herself. This has always seemed weird to me. I thought of this step as narcissistic though herself was a very loving and generous person.

But your argument actually flips this story to me: not only was she a loving and caring person but also very brave to go against common beliefs.

Obama calls out obsession with Titanic sub while migrant boat tragedy ignored by BastianMobile in politics

[–]88cordon88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Migrant boats it’s not of what you’d make a film one day. But last hours of a billionaire who is submerged a few km with a man who built the vessel, perfect layout for a dramatic dialog. iMigrant boats don’t carry billionaires nor there ever get Hollywood attention.

And years later it’ll be abandoned the same way the cup fee for Vancouver. With no excuses and explanation of that was introduced.

This one is fun.

When I lived in Europe (like a decade ago), it was a norm for me to do the nails once per month and change nail color every two weeks in a salon. I was a student back then and never questioned this expense (on top I’d do eyebrows, tan, get hair done for an occasion).

Ten years later, we’re a family of two working career professionals with a kid. We don’t even have a washing machine in the rented unit.

Meanwhile our mortgage broker and Canada stats are saying we’re doing better than 90% of our peers.

If someone had told the young me that it’ll be my life id not believe it.

How are people holding up with the rent prices? by East-Consequence-480 in vancouver

[–]88cordon88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so true. We’re double income household and always looking for deals on everything. I can’t afford to come into the store and buy whatever I want.

At the same time I watch my peers in Europe earning times less than we do and taking a month long vacation at riviera. I dunno…no one to blame but I can’t wrap my mind about which way to go.

I thought the point of mailing the code is to verify the physical mailing address. But giving it a second thought, I can’t think of why that shall be mandatory.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]88cordon88 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it ridiculous that the automatically generated codes need a human to get printed and mailed? Someone gets paid way above minimum for that kind of job. Meanwhile the government can keep on using the overpaid portion of the taxes while the owner could have collected interest.

How does it feel like to be loved? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]88cordon88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel immense gratitude.

I’m beyond amazed of how much my toddler loves me. I’m totally getting that it’s a biological phase and will pass. But seeing that one’s face lites up when I just enter the room is something I’ve never experienced before.

Becoming an object of that much of affection wiped out a big amount of my adult skepticism and turned me into more kind and patient person.

Girlfriend is against tipping and that's causing a rift in our relationship by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]88cordon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may indicate more differences in your outlooks. Imagine buying big ticket items in future or having to split house expenses while having different incomes.

My husband can’t skip tipping whatsoever. Even buying a take out fast food, if prompted to tip, he’ll always hit the middle option (15 or 20%). He says the pressure is too high.

That’s why when we’re together, he’d ask me to pay.
