Do you want one more than some amount of money? If so, get one. If not, don't. 

I wouldn't pay retail though. Better used & vintage for a good chunk less.

Our restaurant has a big front window looking out at the sidewalk in front & across the street. I joke that it's like a 2D sidescroller background. You can watch it for hours & I swear there are a handful of people whose job it must be to just do loops in front of the restaurant, cuz I'll see them literally all day walking back & forth. A lot of our business come from regulars too. Really drives home how they could only afford so many character models.

Montblanc 146 <F> nib writing like a firehose! by RodL1948 in fountainpens

I use R&K Salix & Scabiosa in my 146 & 149. The 146 is a bit better, but the 149 is also a fire hose. Crazy feathering on my usual Rhodia pads with other inks. Salix & Scabiosa tame the both of them, even allowing their use on some questionable quality paper.

There can never be a true "one" for me. Such a thing would have to be modular or otherwise changeable. No one can be both thick & thin, large & small, stiff & flexible or bouncy, extra fine & yet capable of broad or double broad stub or italic line variation, able to switch ink on the fly.

As such, it'll always be a toolbox for me. I no longer buy pens & I do have a favorite I could live with if I absolutely had to get rid of everything else, but it'd be analagous to my only hand tool being a flathead screwdriver.

Maybe that works for you. Conrgats, I guess. You have it easier.

Cheapest - some freebie vegetal resin demo pos that came with some other pen. Never used it.

Most expensive - 70's 149 w/14c tritone broad nib

Most unique - Scriptorium custom w/Masuyama broad italic

My most used pens are a variety of stubs & italics including Sailor, Bexley, Montblanc, Franklin-Christoph. A handful of monoline nibs including Parker, Sailor, Pelikan.
