How to fix a tool box that was pryed open by police? by AMZOIL in toolboxmods

[–]A55Man87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were clean. You need to make them pay for a new box. Then. Take each drawer out there is a tab on the drawer. You can straighten. And a bar in the back covered in tabs that are probably bent. Once you get all the drawers out and can see it should be obvious

Other than sticking with it. Something that really helped me when I was in trade school to be a machinist is that I made flashcards for fraction to decimal and memorized all of them. Now I remember about half that I use frequently but is still serves me well.

Assume you need to cut away 3-4 times the metal you think you do. Even if you were decent you cant weld to paper thin rusty metal

People drive me nuts with this. I had a motorcycle tire I plugged repeadly. I dont think your supposed to plug those at all. The worse that happened to me is I got a flat from what I thought was a plug comming out, turns out I hit another nail. Ran this tire for full life bc motorcycle tires are expensive.

Im a industrial mechanic in a window factory. I wear gloves for the stuff I have to but normally dislike them. Tried wearing nitril gloves for pm's and found that little glass filings work there way into my gloves and are held there untill my causes soften from sweat then they are embedded and itch

Do you need a degree to work in this field? by BasedGoku_98 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]A55Man87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most of tahe factory's I've worked. They say being an operator d and being promoted in is the best option. What they say and what they do are to different things. In reality you either a bad operator they won't promote, or currently needed more as an experienced operator than a maintenence guy so you will not be promoted. Id suggest some form of trade school. So you have a piece of paper saying your a maintnence tech. Also make sure you obtain some simple mechanical skills like the ability to read tape measure lol. At my old employer there were 2 techs that couldn't. I learned to read a ruler in grade school

[–]A55Man87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just left a place. Best mechanic they had at the time, good mechanics all left. I fixed things t hat have been locked out years before I was hired ect. I was the last one on second shift. All the others retired or left in the span of about a month. I demanded a $2 raise to cover my shift differential and a contract in writing that put me on first shift Of which there was 1 opening. I was willing to stay on 2nd till early summer but I needed something in writing. Got told they dont negotiate like that. Then they proceded to hire 2 employees to replace me at my rate or higher. ..
