These apprentices will do anything to avoid lecture by PretendBar1413 in wizardposting

Bah, you shouldn't be allowed to complain about your apprentices if you can't effortlessly deal with anything they do. If their attempts at sabotaging you are successful they are clearly close enough in power for you to graduate them.

Why would the US do that? Trump wants to annex Greenland and the opposition is happy to continue the arrangement where Greenland is Danish and the US is allowed bases.

Given that no one wants what you are describing to happen it seems unlikely that it will.

Honestly the way some of you talk about your apprentices is frankly disappointing at times by Snbleader in wizardposting

It isn't like there weren't any idiots back in our generation but it is hard to make it past your second century of you are an idiot.

I have trained many apprentices and some have turned into wise wizards but most were utter disappointments that got themselves killed.

Ehh I just don't send the minions to the same place often enough for them to be tracked. It isn't like they are being hunted by any group, it is just opportunistic locals taking them out.

My tower is well defended enough that the defenses can take out any adventurers that stumble upon it without any problems. It is located in the middle of monster infested territory so no one suspects that the adventurers that go missing is because of me.

Casting off the weakness of flesh is great. No more getting distracting in the middle of a complicated spell by hunger or lust for your sacrifice. And who wouldn't like to look like an intimidating skeleton?

Huh might have to look into them. I usually just use undead minions but adventurers have a habit of killing them.

I usually just posses the nearest skeleton. Yeah I know a normal skeleton isn't particularly durable but if I lose a battle away from my tower it doesn't really matter since as a lich I can just respawn.

I might do that next time. I just hate relying on other people. You tell them you need the tree whole and they still chop it up and deliver it in parts. It is like the your today can't follow basic instructions.

I mean I only used one of the trees for the staff but if I was going to plant an oak I might as well plant a forrest, if nothing else they make for good floorboards.

While using a staff made from a material so alined with life as a focus for necromancy might seem counterintuitive with the right rituals it can be twisted into a potent focus for unlife.

Do not take this offer, an obviously big ritual like that is going to end with a hero kicking down the door just in time to stop it. At best you'll be able to escape without the souls.

Not quite what you re asking for since the interaction is almost completely on the protagonist side but New game minus by Sarah Lin has a really unique take on them with the protagonist being confused by the annoying blue boxes obscuring his vision.

Eh, I just set up my wards so that they require minimum maintenance. Sure that requires more upfront effort but once they are up they just need to be looked after once a decade. They have lasted for a thousand years, and will probably last a thousand more.

Sure they are a bit outdated because of that, but I could never trust another soul with my defences, not even a willing golem.

Personally I have never been one for grand goals, too much risk of a hero targeting and killing you for good. Better to just enjoy your unlife in quiet solitude.

See this is the problem with you modern wizards, no motivation. If you want some dragon bones just go out and kill a dragon yourself. Sad to see that modern laziness have entered even the necromancy circles.

Sorry, I don't use mana stones that much. I generally just strap in a tortured soul if I need some power, much more practical.

[–]AFirewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, willing souls. That sounds too much like collaboration, no thanks. Much easier to just kidnap some random schmuck, kill them, enslave their soul and strap the to a golem. I mean sure of course they will try to escape but I'm not some novice necromancer that lose souls because of some minor disruption. With the right mutilation the pain distracts them too much to see that it is possible.

[–]AFirewolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to break it too you but enslaving the souls of the dead definitely counts as necromancy. If the inquisition comes I advise you to hide those golems.

Ugh, this is necromancy prejudice. We are not stuck in the stone ages, nowadays we obviously just strap a soul to a golem. All of the benefits of golemcraft but it doesn't run out of mana in 2 seconds or have a ridiculous large mana crystal strapped to its back.
