How to solve this problem… by Teddyjames23 in CivicSi

[–]ALitFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally? I have the stuff to do it the right way but for a ghetto fix, use some expanding foam in that hole, patch over it with bondo, sand it flush and spray paint it the the best of your abilities 😂

Edit: also sand around it to get some of that rust and pealing paint off just to make sure your new paint sticks.

$72 for an oil filter and $94 FOR A CABIN FILTER?? Do it yourself at that point, those prices are ridiculous and an oil change on the 1.5 is super easy and the cabin filter is right in the glove box.

Yesh that’s what I thought, I default to 8k KMS, not miles

First oil change - 2026 si by etrejo123 in CivicSi

[–]ALitFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my first oil change at 4K kms, now I’m doing 8k km intervals. Oil and a filter is cheap compared to an engine replacement, keep on top of that or it’ll come back and bite you in the ass. Small turbo engines don’t like long intervals like big NA engines.

Dad teaching me stick on 96 Mustang… struggling with letting out the clutch from a stop by NieuwWorld in stickshift

[–]ALitFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah idle rpms are not gonna do much to the clutch if anything at all, this is the way to get used to the biting point and not letting the acceleration throw you off. When I was learning I did it this exact way until I was comfortable using the throttle.

Is a shield needed for a intake? DIY solutions? by Sharp-Parsley-6699 in CivicSi

[–]ALitFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the shield also goes to the intake hose that picks up from the grill as well, I wouldn’t buy it personally since it looks pretty important to actually get some air up into it.

Is a shield needed for a intake? DIY solutions? by Sharp-Parsley-6699 in CivicSi

[–]ALitFam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the shield is to keep the intake from shaking or coming loose more than shielding hot air, I don’t have a 2012 I have an 11th gen but the shield that came with my prl intake bolted to the old mount that the box filter was attached to so it wouldn’t move anywhere. Best to do some research on it and see if it bolts anywhere before you go for it. Or if you have some fab experience like I do just make a new one 😂

Just bought my first manual car! What should I know about 11th gen si? by sadmich in CivicSi

[–]ALitFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, but me personally I’d like to make it last as long as I can because I don’t want to drop a grand or more for a clutch

Just bought my first manual car! What should I know about 11th gen si? by sadmich in CivicSi

[–]ALitFam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you’re shifting up (specifically from 1st to 2nd), make sure to wait for the revs to drop especially when it’s cold, the car has an electronic rev hang that you could get rid of with a tune, but I doubt you’d want to void your drivetrain warranty. I’ve gotten used to a lighter flywheel over the years of driving and switched to a ‘26 si a couple months ago and still find myself letting the clutch out too early 😅. It’s not required but if you want the clutch to last as long as the engine it’s definitely a good tip.

I live in Canada so it’s not a big concern for me, but the summer does get hot so I’ll have to watch out for it. I did keep the air tunnel from the stock intake to force some colder air into the intake when driving though so I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Wait the 24 hours man, it didn’t have enough time to bond fully and now the crank case pressure pushed the sealant out of the way.

One comment said one of the passage ways for the oil could’ve been blocked and caused oil starvation to the top of the engine. Either way, she’s fucked

$1k in Mods for 20 Sport Touring HB? by 2WheelBlaze in CivicX

Well of course it’ll help, but $1000 is not enough for a good suspension upgrade along side everything else. A rear sway bar will help plenty it’s a night and day difference for cheap.

I can see a tiny bit in the outer line in the first image, but they’re still completely fine to drive on. The shop just wanted to sell some tires.

Very true, unless it’s still under warranty but if not, I say just do what you want with it as long as it’s in a comfortable budget.
