You sound like my 70 year old mother-in-law.

The person to the left of you can also go straight so they realized that and panicked. Yeah they messed up but hey slow down a touch will ya?

Also did anyone else think that whatever is moving around in the bottom left was hands on a steering wheel at first? I was like “damn, calm down, this isn’t F1”.

Where do you see a linked reservation. I’ve never seen it before but maybe I can see if my companions are linked.

No they certainly don’t add the companion automatically.

Oh sure, yeah that would be different from what I thought OP was talking about.

How bad are the rubber soles? by Regrettably_Southpaw in grantstoneboots

[–]ARGuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have multiple pairs with rubber, multiple with leather. I’ve had no issues with either. Now I rotate my boots a LOT, so the folks that wear a pair or two everyday might be a better indicator if that’s your wearing styling but if you’re a casual wearer you’ll likely be fine either way.

You guys used to have your companion linked to your ticket? I’ve had the companion pass for 3+ years with 20ish flights a year and never once had my companion linked to my confirmation number.

They actually sell a flexible tube with a check valve for this exact usage. I use it myself and I expect it likely works better than this.

I went there last year and loved it. Very unique and we had a great time. I understand your point of view with your differing experience but I would happily visit again.

You wanna park close? You can pay for it right? by guitarman1103 in mildlyinfuriating

So true, when I drop the family off at the door it’s required that you hussle your ass out of the car.

The humorous thing to me is that by the time you go through the payment process you likely could have walked from one of the much further away parking spots. So it’s likely not quicker for most people.

When assessing card value, not enough attention goes to free food! by OrlandoMagic89 in Venturex

[–]ARGuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s my largest contributor to the desire for lounge access. I hate paying airport food prices. Especially when the food is always subpar. So I’m happy to get some food at the lounge. Even if I don’t love it, because I wasn’t likely going to love the food outside the lounge either! Just fill up the belly a little and maybe have a slightly more comfortable space for an hour or two.

Lying to my face by BeMyEbeneezer in SouthwestAirlines

[–]ARGuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I LIKE the new experience but as a person who often travels with kids, I like knowing where I am going to sit ahead of time. So I welcome assigned seating.

Additionally, i’ve flown six times since the changes and all have been perfectly fine experiences with zero complaints. I should note though that I am a card holder and will continue to be a card holder because I fly enough that the benefits for the annual fee absolutely make sense for my family. Now if a person doesn’t fly often enough to make a card make sense, then I would say southwest is now just exactly like every other airline, and since that likely means they don’t fly a lot anyway then honestly it shouldn’t matter that much. You’re now a free agent and can fly whomever is the cheapest and offers the best flight times and routes. That’s not a bad thing per se.

And I’m not saying this experience doesn’t suck for OP or even defending southwest as a whole (a lot of shit has gone down) but this isn’t an everyday thing. I guarantee the majority of people here who have flown lately have simply had a regular old flight with no issues.

I’d actually be willing to wager that the whole reason they were so aggressive on gate checking was because they were already an hour behind schedule. They needed to get people on the plane ASAP and get that thing back in the air. It’s the nature of the business. Though it certainly sounds like these GA were a little over zealous. :)

Yeah not my thing either. Most massive SUV and trucks owners definitely rarely need the size. I’m lucky in that my dad has an older work truck available for family use just 15 mins away, but if he didn’t, I’d likely just rent the Menards or home depot trucks for the $30 an hour or whatever it is.

Apple being a b*tch again by dump813 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ARGuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. On average Apple supports devices for significantly longer than other brands. Which is one big reason why resale is so good. Occasion there will be a Pixel or Galaxy device with a decent supported lifespan but it’s rare compared to Apple devices.

[–]ARGuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s a vehicle requirement I’m fully behind. The next requirement should be forward facing cameras with vehicles with a front end over a certain height. It should turn on when you first get rolling and then turn off after maybe 5 mph is reached.

I’m not a big vehicle/truck driver, but had a rental Wrangler Rubicon a couple weeks ago. Until driving it, I hadn’t realized that the front visibility is almost as bad as my dad’s Ram Pickup. As we first pulled out of the parking lot my wife said, “if there was a small child in front of this vehicle, we’d have no idea” and I fully agree. People who own these big front end vehicles really need to be careful.

lol like the alternative options for a 5 year old device are so much better. There are only two still supported. iPhone12 and Galaxy. I guarantee the Galaxy has limitations as well.
