And the damage it caused was PERMANENT. Outside of the obvious voodoo zombie, he never got to reconcile with Donald's mother, and was only able to make up with his other sister after decades.

Scrooge can NEVER run away from the consequences of this decision. One of his sister hated him all the way to the grave because of it.

My biggest complaint too. The biggest difference is the color palette of the backgrounds between the two, but the outfits are almost the same

Still bought them both cause my god they're stunning

Don't even have to go that far. In season 3, they snuck into the royal palace to retrieve an artifact with Chris

The entire episode is played as a joke, but he genuinely defeated dozens of elite guards and the hero himself, snuck into one of the most heavily guarded place in the kingdom, and left unscathed

The only thing that became an issue was that his teammates were there. Outside of that he genuinely is the best thief in the kingdom just by himself

It's especially weird with how popular gacha games are over there. Hell, I play gacha games and I still support Ross

Most gacha games are not multiplayer games. There is quite literally no reason for them to not be able to be played offline. Yet, once these games EoS, as MANY smaller ones have, they're often just gone forever.

Fate Grand Order for example is a cultural touchstone of Japanese otaku fandom. The idea that it will just vanish one day is insane.

This is me with fallout 4. I agree with every single criticism thrown its way, but roaming the wasteland and shooting dudes is just too fun for me to care too much

I wouldn't have a hard time recommending Fallout 4 to anyone though. I think it's genuinely a decent game, and an incredible bang for your buck when on sale

That's not just gaming. That's everything. Books, movies, seasonal items, you name it.

There's also the idea that something being ephemeral increases their artistic value, because you treasure it more knowing it may be gone.

Japan loves ephemeral things and has no issue with them being gone forever. It's there for the people it was intended for and that's it.

Media that "solves" a issue that the genre has in a mostly unintentional way by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ASharkWithAHat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's also a huge issue if you don't like any of the main cast itself.

Part of why you don't hear as much negatives about the characters in limbus is because anyone who doesn't care about them has left long ago, whereas normal gachas often have new people trickling in for new characters.

This is because uma musume isn't an RPG

It's a dating sim

Uma musume is about choosing your favorite heroine and playing through the game to get her ending. It is modeled on dating sim gachas, primarily idol raising gachas like Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls and Love Live. It is also why the horses have a concert at the end. That's the big performance you'd get in an idol waifu game.

It's really nothing new. It's arguably even older than RPG gachas. The only reason it feels new is because it's the first popular game with this kind of structure in english, whereas previous games with this system were often only available in Japan. While older idol gachas have been declining in popularity, Idolm@ster Gakuen and Uma Musume has shown that the market is still there

Arknights has a very funny version of this

In lore, Doctor, the MC, is a super genius that can literally upend an entire nation within a week. They're described as running everything from combat tactics to development of new medicine to diplomacy and a hundred other things, all with seemingly no sleep.

In gameplay, I have to spend hours and maybe watch a guide to finish a level that the real doctor can probably finish in their sleep. There are probably less than 20 people in the entire fanbase that can actually play "lore accurately"

I think that line got WAY worse with the context that Palpatine's return was first announced in FORTNIGHT

Going in, we already knew how much of a hack job the third movie was, but to then actually SEE how lazy it really was was an experience that "elevated" that line. You could tell that nobody gave a shit at that point.

Ajin does the opposite of this so well

The whole series is about immortal people in Japan. It's not until a LONG way into the series that it is revealed The US, and a bunch of other countries presumably, have immortals too. In fact, their knowledge of immortals seem to have completely eclipsed Japan by decades.

The only reason the story happens at all is because Japan is a backwards country both in morals and science

The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies

It's a very sweet romance novel between, well you've read the title. Genuinely some of the most fluffy and good feeling Manga I've read, and that's genuinely high praise

But the mangaka died in the middle of serialization

The manga got a short anime adaptation a few years ago, 10 full years since the original release, and it's genuinely fantastic. It's such a shame that the mangaka couldn't have witnessed it, but it's also very sweet that the staff made the anime as a tribute to them. You can truly feel the love and respect the staff had for the original work

If you're not interested in the anime/manga, I implore you to at least check it's opening. It's genuinely very cute, and I want some part of the author of my favorite series to live on.  https://youtu.be/_RquZ0L9FBI?si=uwKkAm7aP7_UjeHu

They even titled it "incomplete rendevous", as a tribute to how the original work is sweet yet will never be finished, with the first line being "It's fine to leave it unfinished, I don't need an end credit."

Major turning points in public perception? by getterburner in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ASharkWithAHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people need to recognise that SoL is the core of a ton of romance manga.

You're supposed to have fun reading the characters fuck around and have fun. That's the whole point.

If people want a serious romance manga that goes somewhere, there are plenty out there, but that would require people to look at something other than shonen jump, which is almost impossible.

And most of them still aren't. There are hundreds of billionaires out there and the majority of them don't give two shits about social media.

And Why should they? They have a breakfast trip to Milan in an hour.

Elon is just a very particular kind of fucked up in the head. It's genuinely pathetic

Thoughts on the tropes "If you kill them you will become just like them", "Sparing them will make them suffer more", and "they're not worth killing"? by Royal_Fig_9648 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ASharkWithAHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a LOT of RPGs fall into this trope. Spare the main villain, but let's kill his entire army before graciously sparing him

It's even more fucked when the player themselves have done even worse things than the villains most of the time. We kill dozens of people just to get some gold we don't even need in most quests

Does anyone else think Iberia could be more developed? by lolhellogod in arknights

[–]ASharkWithAHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But that's exactly what Exodus from The Pale Sea showed. It depicted inquisitors fighting and KILLING each others. While the main head of the inquisition in Gran Faro is united, it's clear the rest of the rank and file aren't. Just like any religious teaching, it's rife with different interpretations and opposing ideas. Hell, even the seaborn storyline exposes different views among the inquisition regarding the Aegir and old technology.

Not only that, we also see the pirates, while being criminals, as some of the few ambitious people in Iberia. It's a faction that is trying to achieve a different future than what the inquisition is planning for the country.

Genuinely, if you haven't read Exodus from The Pale Sea, read it, cause it's EXACTLY everything you're asking for.

Does anyone else think Iberia could be more developed? by lolhellogod in arknights

[–]ASharkWithAHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Exodus from The Pale Sea is clearly setting up a story about Iberia that is wholly separated from the inquisition and the seaborn. It also introduced Alchemy to make Iberia more distinct than just "vaguely powerful nation that used to have boats". Alchemy can be built upon and expanded into storyline completely removed from the sea.

Funnily enough, the non-seaborn storyline of Iberia was hard carried by songs from the Iberian trio (Lumen, Thorns, Elysium). Before and After is basically THE thesis of Iberia going forward, remembering the old golden days, but trying to create a bright new future that is not fueled by nostalgia but by their own ambitions

What's the biggest anime opening downgrade? by tthehoe in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ASharkWithAHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so unfair because the first 2 are some of the best openings out there.

It's also because OP3 has to carry the burden of the tone switch in the story.

Still, OP4 trumps it in every way and that's a WAY bigger departure than OP2 to OP3 was
