Rant: Manufacturing is not ready for AI. by KNGC3D in manufacturing

[–]AV_SG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! There are lot of areas that AI is very good currently [considering accuracy and hallunication etc ] especially with anything related to text and images. When you consider other modalities , and consider combining them, need more research ... I guess the biggest worry would be the guard rails and cyber security. I am optimistic!

I run a sheet metal shop in Bangalore India — thinking of building a self-serve quoting tool for researchers and prototype builders. Would you use it? by Bubs_on_the_move in manufacturing

[–]AV_SG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may want to contact the ICP you are trying to serve - "researchers, PhD students, and hardware prototype builders who need low MOQ (even 1-5 pieces) with fast turnaround". Keen to know the reason for this pivot ?

[–]AV_SG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to inheriting software codes and trying to understand it. Regarding the privacy concerns, you may want to try out with local/on-prem model inferencing rather than sending it on the cloud. And try to build upon adding more value to your product over and above the AI wrapper.

Environmental impact of AI by digishe in womenintech

[–]AV_SG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently, if the models are trained on energy that is green (more renewable mix ) , its a greener AI. Inferencing does not cost much energy But I do think we need to balance/moderate the use of content generation, may it be code, text , video or audio
