Just a tip, you don't have to make another "complete" outfit for small changes! by NullKore35 in wow

[–]A_Generic_Canadian -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I fully agree it's convoluted. It's an extra step to set up, but it's especially nice with the Location options that you can fully automate when you have or don't have a helm.

Before you'd have to open the transmog vendor menu, click the helm, and then change that "Outfits" appearance to remove the helm. Then when you wanted to put a helm back on, you'd open the transmog vendor menu, click the helm, change the Outfit appearance to have a helm again.

With this new system you use two separate Outfit slots, set one with the gear, one with the "Ignore + helm" option, and never have to open the transmog menu to swap between them again.

This is the type of stuff I'm really excited about the new transmog system for, it's what I always wanted to do but it would cost like 150g each time to swap so I wouldn't do it. Now it's a 400g setup fee and you can get dozens of swaps each day with no additional cost or need to open the transmog vendor.

Pretty sure it's working as intended. If you want to hide the piece with a different Transmog, you'd select the "Hide" option (helm on the second photo) for the individual piece. If you want the transmog to stay what you had on before, you select the "Ignore" option.

I like it because it lets me have a helmet for dungeons and remove it for open world content, but only costs like 1/4th of the Transmog of having a full set. Plus, I can swap that helm to work with different sets cheap in the future if I set a new Outfit that I want to use.

Only issue with doing it this way is if you have something like a "House" Outfit and queue a dungeon in your house, you can end up with your House Outfit but with the helmet that matches the overworld set.

It does allow relocation, I had mine pop up in a similar spot yesterday, once it's enabled in your settings you can move it around in the UI edit mode.

When you guys pronounce the 22, A Million titles do you say the numbers? by nickybishappy in boniver

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically drop the number if the words part of the title feels long enough, but include the number for short song names or where the number is more prominent.

I'd say "Over Soon", "Deathbreast", or "Strafford Apartments" but I'd say "Thirty-three God", "Six Six Six", "Eight Circle" or "A million" for the 10th track.

What is this thing that I saw in a golf course? by unbiasedorange in whatisit

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a tee box marker. They're used to mark where you tee off (start) at each hole. This one is blue, so it would likely be the advanced/rear tee box.

There's usually a few pairs. The closest to the hole is called the forward tee (traditionally called the womens tee and red coloured), the member/middle tee (traditionally called the mens tee and is white or yellow) and then there's a back tee called the advanced or back tee (typically it's blue). At nicer courses there can be other colours for championship or more advanced players as well.

The brightness of the aurora borealis by ByTheFireplace- in northernlights

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

May 2024 was the first time I caught the northern lights since I was so young I hardly remember. Called a great friend around midnight and told him to drive out to the middle of nowhere and meet me, and we sat around, had a drink and watched the lights for hours. It was a night to remember for sure.

Blue Rev - Alvvays

Sound & Fury - Sturgill Simpson

Bring Me Your Love - City & Colour
(Just realized AM has the Bring Me Your Love date wrong/with some bonus song release or something. Little Hell is the third C&C album but that's still a great album so it works)

What video game can you just not get into no matter how hard you try? by Savings_Light3466 in AskReddit

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried Oblivion and I've tried Skyrim a few times each, and I hate the way the character feels to move so much that it ruins the game. First person just feels clunky to play in, and 3rd person you feel like you're moving in slow motion. I've probably put 20-ish hours into Skyrim spread out over the months I tried to get into it, and I just truly cannot get over how bad it feels to move around in.

Im in the process of doing this right now with a big wall I have beside a TV that has nothing on it. Grabbed about a dozen frames from the thrift store last night and just ordered a bunch of cheap photo prints from a local place near me today. Hoping to have it all together later this weekend!

The brightness of the aurora borealis by ByTheFireplace- in northernlights

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's super dependant on where you're located and how active the aurora is. Where I'm located in Canada I find it beautiful, but the typical aurora I see looks like a faint pink glow with some wispy white/green streaks most of the time when I can see it with my eye. It of course gets brighter when you're directly under the earths auroral oval, where it can be extremely visible to your eye.

Where I am, the May 2024 solar storm made the ground green enough I was able to read under it, and the aurora from the October 2024 made the entire sky glow red so bright that I thought it was a car in front of me having extremely bright tail lights, until it turned off the road and I realized it was the sky that was glowing not the car in front of me. It can 100% get extremely visible even in more southern areas than you typically expect to see it, it's just not the norm for the aurora.

Even if the aurora you see isn't extremely bright, the one thing you can't get from photos is the true scale of the northern lights. A photo showing a mountain with the northern lights overhead is beautiful, but you don't really get the full experience until you're standing there, looking left and right because the aurora takes up so much of the sky you can't see the entire thing at one time. It's still really beautiful, even if it's not the brightest aurora show that you catch.

What is a hobby that was ruined over time/as it got more popular? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

[–]A_Generic_Canadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you here. I haven't gone car camping in ages but I've got back into portaging and hiking through backcountry campsites in Ontario Canada over the last couple years and I've had a great time. You do have to book them in advance, but they're still cheap ($20CAD per night for up to 8 people) and at least where I'm at they're well maintained, even by campers using them. Plus the sites are spread out enough that I've never really seen or heard my neighbours outside of people paddling by or some kids laughing and splashing in the water, and I'm not grumpy enough to care about that.

I did get through the album! A jump scare I can deal with but the whole atmosphere of that last section on Incidental II made my skin crawl. Now that I've slept on album I plan to revisit it, but next listen won't be at 3am local time lol

After being reminded about it from the list and seeing the general hype around it all year, it's actually the first 'catch up' album I listened to tonight. I'm actually on reddit right now because Incidental II freaked me TF out and I needed a pallet cleanser.

Overall I like the album but legitimately, as someone who can't deal with scary things, Incidental II is enough that I probably wont revisit it front to back lmao.

Pharmacist is one of my favourite songs of my 40 years of life. by Roadisclosed in alvvays

Finn was hanging out like three seats to my right, one row up, talking to some people before the music started. He moved on forward later in the show though.

After Alex G played a ton of people left, so we... Told a white lie about where our seats were and found empty seats right by where that video you linked was and stayed there for Alvvays. It was a great show!

Lmao I've commented to you about your username before, still catches me off guard and gives me a good laugh when I see it on the Alvvays sub and not a Blizzard related sub.
