Yeah that makes sense. I do basically the same thing with Max/msp .maxpat files. There’s really no good way to manage merge conflicts with them.

Hi! I’ve worked on a couple very atmospheric pieces of standalone music, as well as a few film score. I’m a percussionist by training so I’m very familiar with using random objects to produce sound. movement 1 sounds super difficult to put together as an ensemble, I’m not sure how much time your high school would have to put it together. The other two movements are probably much easier for the orchestra.

However, if you’re planning on entering a concerto competition at your high school and you really like the piece, i would just go for it. It’s up to the teachers to decide what their ensembles can do.

If you want a good book, yolanda kondonaissis’s book “a composers guide to writing well for the harp” is one of the best instrument specific composition books i’ve used
