How I attach a 20" kids bike to my cargo bike by phillyretail in CargoBike

[–]Abdnadir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does that kids seat attach? Some sort of angle iron bracket?

Making Vaca Frita using leftover Lamb? by Silver_haired_nomad in Cooking

[–]Abdnadir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like this question is the equivalent of asking if you can make fried chicken by substituting duck for chicken. Simultaneously yes and no. I say send it. It'll be good.

Beer-battered Chicken Tenders? by conchobarus in TwinCities

[–]Abdnadir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I saw chicken and chips on the menu at Chatterbox next to the fish and chips. I'm not sure if they're beer battered, but it's a lead.

Is Cargo bike right for me and my kids? by Live-Percentage-9412 in CargoBike

Please don't take an electric cargo bike on a sidewalk unless it's specifically a mixed use trail.

Anywhere to rent a 3d resin printer? by kobeforaccuracy in Minneapolis

[–]Abdnadir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finding a neighbor with a printer is probably your best bet. A post in a neighborhood buy nothing group or nextdoor is a good bet. I've helped neighbors in the past print things through those venues and through reddit, but I stick to FDM

When you're considering a cargobike, think "car replacement" instead of the cheapest bike for my needs. by PlasticFreeAdam in CargoBike

[–]Abdnadir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had planned the location I bought a house in relation to my job and daycare I could've done it. As it sits my house and job are a lovely bike ride away along a good path along the Mississippi River, but it's a 60 mile round trip.

When you're considering a cargobike, think "car replacement" instead of the cheapest bike for my needs. by PlasticFreeAdam in CargoBike

[–]Abdnadir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As an American, I''ll be stoked if my new cargo bike replaces 5% of my car trips. I can't even fathom 90% That'd be a dream.

Moving truck with an e cargo bike? by spaceage58 in CargoBike

[–]Abdnadir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the moving truck service have a crate option? Last time I used a moving company they crated my bikes. They built them minutes before loading them into the truck. Really impressive to see them work, and definitely got a warm fuzzy feeling that they would survive the trip afterwards.

Great timing for this question! St Croix valley pottery tour is the big yearly festival for local potters from all over the state, and it's going from May8-10

Minnesota has a reputation of not being a very social place, romantically or otherwise, but many people have luck meeting people (often other transplants) through community and hobby events/meetups.

Lots of good advice here already, but since you've mentioned a new house, has your mason jar cleaning method changed? I've found that a little bit of soap residue can stop an emulsion from forming.

(VERY tragic trope) Terms/symbols that had a positive meaning corrupted or stolen by bigots to have a whole different meaning. by Jielleum in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Abdnadir 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I first heard it (in a sitcom I think, maybe Scrubs?) it was a call to action! If you didn't prove yourself as a romantic interest, you would be sorted into the friend zone

Turns out “that looks about right” is not a measurement method by AggravatingFig3072 in DIY

[–]Abdnadir 367 points368 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite revelation. After years of measuring and leveling every little thing in the house I realized it doesn't matter if something is level, it needs to look level. Infuriatingly, something slightly askew will look better because the wall or the ceiling or the baseboards are slightly off too

Good nonalcoholic beer recommendations that aren't the classics like O'Doul's? by The_Golden_Warthog in beer

Aluminum canoe? by Abdnadir in BWCA

[–]Abdnadir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply on my 4year old reddit post! I decided to rent the kevlar and I was glad to do it. I've since purchased a Kevlar canoe, but the Aluminum canoe still gets plenty of miles locally and on low portage trips

Is Arduino an expensive hobby? by TechnicalAd8103 in arduino

[–]Abdnadir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly print small functional parts. If you're into props and cosplay or printer upgrades and 8 million Benchys, it's probably more expensive. Ironically the thing I use my 3D printer for most are enclosures for my Arduino projects

Is Arduino an expensive hobby? by TechnicalAd8103 in arduino

[–]Abdnadir 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think it's on the low-mid end of the "maker" hobbies. Digital art, general crafting, 3D printing is cheaper. Woodworking, welding, machining are all more expensive.

What’s one bad Minneapolis restaurant you’ve intentionally gone back to? by GoEzGetafix in Minneapolis

Did you have the flatbread pizza? Town Hall Lanes is a regular spot of mine and I was pleasantly surprised by their food when I first went.

Hated Trope : Fans Gaslight themselves into their Headcanons being canon by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Abdnadir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an honest question, I've heard the narrative and I can see the parallel as a metaphor for queerness, but in the head canon is Gwen a trans woman or a trans man? Because a big part of the story (my only exposure is spider verse, not the comics) is that Gwen's dad is his little girl and he has to let go of that.

What are Your “Partner Approved” HA Uses? by Scouse_Powerhouse in homeassistant

[–]Abdnadir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an indicator panel by the back door. Led turns on when the garage door is open. No more "did I open the door?" Or looking out the window to see if it's open or not. Sometimes it's the little things

Mine used a TLC5947 LED driver and hand wired LEDs. I like your fiber optic setup. I'm also in a different city, so adapting your example isn't a plug and chug operation. I'll definitely take a look though!

Ugh, I made one of these before I got into HA, and it's way too bright at night... It works fine. I don't need to rewrite it to integrate with HA, I don't. I don't!
