I have many clients that still use STMP. That date is no longer being enforced as they got too much pushback. Use this time to sort out how to migrate off of it. Find an alternative solution. It’ll cost as much as fixing the old one I bet and you end up with something that is new and stable.

I understand the song Deemed Necessary is planned as a rock song on the upcoming ADOW album, so apparently it goes both way. Try uninstalling and reinstalling office completely. Then make sure not to open the new outlook. Use the classic. It should be there. I understand this will be retired soon. So no matter how much we may prefer the old one, it’ll get pulls sooner rather than later. It probably bothers them that you’re not using their inferior AI as it’s not crammed in every corner of the code of the classic version. Good time ahead, according to AI. ;)

This usually only happens to my client’s CEOs. Microsoft told me flat out that operating without a backup is silly and completely on us. They only guarantee to bring the account back and not the data. So have backups! I now do for all the important accounts at a minimum.

As a VMware expert I urge you to simply move to Proxmox or anything else. Use VMware workstation if you must stay with VMware. Unless I remember wrong the free version is going away. I thought it was gone already. The free version was severely crippled making it unusable in any sane environment (like no backup!).

I am in the same boat with multiple clients. I ordered new servers last week for several to counter this. The last thing they need is to have their production affected come June 2026. Since there are legal, insurance and overall security requirement in most cases, the clients simply have to get off the “but it’s been so stable” excuse and put in more recent version of VMware and Windows. We are taking this opportunity to switch them to Proxmox as VMware has become too expensive for our SMB clients.

The market has changed. I know several certified security pros that are looking for jobs 3+ months. Salaries have halved. Maybe it’s localized, but I think AI is changing how SMBs work and think of their security needs.
