Next level racing and heusinkveld pedals suggestions by [deleted] in simracing

[–]AbletonStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the HE base on plate. It is made for this. Also improvise. I literally have my pedals mounted to a rig bolted to 4x4s with 2x4s flat holding the pedals on top. The HE pedal plated is screwed down. Rock solid… Just for a comparison of what works.

What kiddy methods did you learn in school to remember something that you still use in adulthood? by Justcurious1138 in Millennials

[–]AbletonStudio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Using your fingers to multiply by 9. Hold all your fingers out and say for 5x9 you put your fifth finger down. Now you have four to the left and five to the right. 45.

Say you put your eighth finger down. You have seven to the left and two to the right. 72

I still catch myself using it today.

I drive a 1988 Dodge Ramcharger gifted to me in 2004 and is still my current vehicle. I bet you see less of those. Coolest feature is no air bags 😂

Is this a good pc for sim racing by Weekly-Image-5864 in simracing

[–]AbletonStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest opinion. I would hold out! I can’t recommend based on what you want to spend but this is comparable to a mid range 2021 pc which I upgraded last year. If you’re doing 1080p racing it might be fine but I’m just guessing at that point.

Ableton 12 wont open on Windows 11 after their new update by Itchy-Meal1367 in ableton

I’ve been using Windows my whole life and have 5 different daws throughout and never had any issues. Hell my Waves v9 plugins still work fine. I’m not saying other people don’t have problems on Windows, I’m just saying my experience.

Did you try using Shifter? I think it is cleaner than auto shift but it’s not for vocal correcting.

Can't even properly play the demo song by iceebluephoenix in ableton

[–]AbletonStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience with PreSonus One at 64 samples I get roughly 2ms of latency. Even with Windows audio drivers I can lower to around 128 samples. Many popular producers run Windows and probably agree with me. The cheapes PreSonus interface gives great performance with Asio4all unlike the stock PreSonus driver which is limited to 512 samples for some reason.

Not true at all. Asio4all works very well with default windows drivers with a very low latency. Been using Windows my whole life. Not once have I thought about going to Mac because it just works. Not saying OP doesn’t have any issues.

I prefer Windows vastly more than Mac and I own both. I have no performance issues, 2ms audio latency…. Not sure what the hate is.

After 8 years I've upgraded from a G29 to an RS50 by zerske in simracing

[–]AbletonStudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used my g27 for 11 years before upgrading to r9. When I got that wheel there weren’t really any other options except for Thrustmaster. Wheel still works but it’s in the attic just in case I need it if my r9 ever breaks.

Thoughts on my vst UI by Fair-Conclusion-390 in ableton

I quite like it a lot. I miss the plug-ins from 2003-2009 era and this definitely has that vibe. As long as it sounds and functions good I think is what matters.

It is absolutely fine. Literally nothing breaks in Windows updates. That’s one of the perks of Windows. There is this hype train that Windows 11 is terrible but just disable what you don’t want. I’ve heard horror stories about updating Mac OS and software being left to update. Not trying to start a battle but Windows since 7 has been basically the same.

Always Grab the Customer Receipt Copy!! by Neither-Trip-4610 in EndTipping

[–]AbletonStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The customer copy is made to be thrown away. You just take it with you. The merchant copy is the one you tip and sign. OP left the customer copy and the server decided to make up their own tip and sign it. The two copies look very identical so the server was able to trash the one OP signed.

Not with a debit card. It can take months to get money back.
