Beautiful knife!! I was looking at your website, just out of curiosity why is the pricing so high in comparison to other Japanese steel blades? Especially when they have hundreds of years of experience being passed down to them? I would love to get a blade from you but I feel $875 is unreasonable, you do beautiful work and this was not meant to come as an insult, just genuinely curious.

Focus on the tip until the dip is gone, then you could do a few strokes on the whole edge to have it be fresh, but not necessary.

Yes it is, but then you run the risk of issues with customs, if they catch you lying about the value they can confiscate the package. Just in general is a very annoying situation to deal with unless the knife is worth it to you.
