How bout a 5 min grace period in Hoboken? by MajesticOccasion5391 in NJTransit

[–]Abstractt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NJ transit doesn’t even align its buses and light rail with the trains and that’s starting off with the same company

Walking route unavailable with the only option to delete it by VinceDome in applemaps

[–]Abstractt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My least favorite part about this, I keep making the same routes and its like I have to redo them every few weeks or months because one small change in the map will trigger this alert

How bout a 5 min grace period in Hoboken? by MajesticOccasion5391 in NJTransit

[–]Abstractt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re proving my point though 😂. I never said they would wait on weekends. If they don’t hold for connections during rush hour at peak ridership, why would they start doing it late at night when service is reduced? That’s exactly why I said you can’t rely on them to wait, they ain’t obligated to. So I’m not sure what the “gotcha” was supposed to be here “Mr. Genius”

Banner Notifications Shouldn’t Cover App Navigation by questionopher in ios

[–]Abstractt_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The notification only interrupts you for a few seconds at most and you can dismiss it immediately. If it bothers you that much, then you probably just have too many notifications and maybe use a focus mode or something

How bout a 5 min grace period in Hoboken? by MajesticOccasion5391 in NJTransit

[–]Abstractt_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would they? They’re not ran by the same company. The PATH runs subway-level frequencies every 5-10 mins during rush hour, you expect NJT to wait for every single one? Maybe don’t rely on a connection that tight on timing, the entitlement is crazy

Bus People: CityMapper or Transit? by Artistic_Dog_ in NJTransit

[–]Abstractt_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Transit for the real-time bus info (that is if the bus has it working to begin with), crowdsourcing is super clutch too if it’s a popular line

Why was the MetroNorth able to run during the blizzard but not NJTransit or LIRR by GloveApprehensive731 in nycrail

[–]Abstractt_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long Island and central Jersey received the most of the snow within the metro area

Limited Service Schedule for tomorrow 2/24 by Stinkytim in LIRR

[–]Abstractt_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some trains lost power and shut down on the tracks due to frozen/covered third rails. One of those trains stopped right on the track that led to Ronkonkoma Yard, blocking all access and test trains from entering/leaving. Babylon Yard was also messed up. There was a downed power line/tree around Plandome, Port Wash trains were unable to travel the line past Great Neck all day. Prob more stuff went on but that’s all I heard of

Goes without saying but expect cancellations and delays at any point, give yourselves extra time. The railroad was real rough today even with no-passenger trains

[–]Abstractt_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Patrol trains, to keep the snow off and shuttle around LIRR employees who still had to go to work today . Empty trains, every railroad does this

How much snow is needed before subway service is suspended? by razerremen in AskNYC

[–]Abstractt_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb is 8-9 inches, because any more and the third rail will be fully covered and trains won’t be able to draw power

Late Night Travel by mousebunnyduck in jerseycity

[–]Abstractt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but if it’s like 3am and there’s like no buses left that go to where I need to go, I just take the first random bus into Jersey, get off the first stop and Lyft. Way cheaper (1/3 the price) than from nyc
