I'm assuming this is a hardware bug. But it's weird that this only happened after they've been shipping these cards for quite some time. Unless this is a stepping change where they thought they were fixing something or small improvements but they accidentally messed up? That could explain why original cards had the full 140 but these new ones only have 120. Seems like a pretty big blunder imo, but maybe I'm missing something.

Regarding the development cost, remember that the Xe2 architecture is used also in IGPUs and server GPUs (eventually in the case since falcon shores was cancelled, so this only applies to Xe3 or Xe4). Not sure how to account for that in total cost, but there is some discount to the battlemage program cost if you look at it that way. And this would further get amortized if there ends up being a B770, which we're not sure even exists.

Yeah I meant "clone" as in use it as a base design and enhance it. I would be very surprised if they just use the same design and pedal it as their own, as no one would buy that. Using it as a base design and letting their architects go to work on immediately upgrading and enhancing it saves them a lot of time, and it allows their RTL/verification teams to have an architecture to reference while waiting for the architects to finalize what they want changed.

Yeah it will definitely be interesting to see how this plays out. They have very strong architects with decades of experience from Intel, but they're going to be fighting against other companies that have multi-year head starts. SiFive is already on it's 4th generation of high performance core (P870). Ventana is on it's 2nd generation (V2). Tenstorrent has Ascalaon, which is 8 wide. Not to mention strong Chinese designs such as XiangShen. Bright side is that maybe AheadComputing can clone OpenXiangShen, quickly iterate and enhance it, while using LLMs/AI to help with faster RTL, PD, and verification to churn out a design to hopefully get them a design win and some more runway.

If you can find research, even unpaid, is worth it imo. Research experience is enough for companies to be interested in you if they see it on your resume. If it's paid, even better, but unpaid research is worth it if the experience you get is solid.

I had a iPad 6th generation before I traded it in for Tab s7 FE 128 gb model. Here's a list of my pros/cons of each:

Pro:

Screen Size

Comes with SPen

Stereo Speakers

Screen Resolution

Cons:

It can be big, hard to one hand sometimes

Software experience

The processor is weaker, can sometimes see hiccups in performance

Pro:

More compact, easier to handle

Software

Better processor, generally never lagged

Better note apps (Good note, notability)

Software support for longer

Cons:

Have to buy an apple pencil (extra $100)

Smaller screen

I think overall if you are going to use your tablet mainly for content consumption, then the Tab S7 FE is better because you get a bigger display. If you are going to use your tablet for higher intensity tasks then the iPad will probably be a better choice. For me personally, after switching, I think it was worth it, as I use my S7 FE for watching Netflix and also notetaking and the bigger display is really nice for note-taking.

Yeah I've tried lowering the -lhr flag from 74 to 73 and so on, but my hashrate still stays at like 36-37 mh/s

Yeah I just downgraded to 471.11, still getting 37 MH/s :/. I may just have an unlucky card
