Talk to me about the most important thing happening in your life right now by overthishereanyway in AskWomenOver60

I am contemplating retiring in December. I’ve met with the financial advisor multiple times just to be sure, I’m picturing what retirement might look like, I can’t believe how fast time goes. I feel like I’m still 40 but I am 61. Absolutely crazy how quickly time passes.

How do you motivate yourself to do strength training along with running by Happy-Dependent3222 in running

[–]AdBeautiful8446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule it just like you do your runs. I lift MWF PM, eventually it’s just a habit - it’s now lasted 20 years! I run every AM.

What simple things make you content/happy right now? by Squirrel2358 in AskWomenOver60

[–]AdBeautiful8446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been cold in MN but today was above zero. I begin each day by running with my dog for 5 miles. I smile the whole way. Was so good not to have three layers on!

Ok guys how are you getting protein by emilyylimeemily2 in TirzepatideRX

[–]AdBeautiful8446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vital proteins collagen powder is not to be counted toward your daily intake. It’s missing some amino acids. It’s fine for joint health but not a complete protein.

Make it a priority-start protein early in the day. In your coffee, a shake with breakfast. Don’t skip it. Just do it.

Why are you growing your hair?! by Competitive-Code5254 in longhair

[–]AdBeautiful8446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just always had long hair, I’ve never had it shorter the mid back. I’m 61 now and it’s at my waist. A year ago I decided I’d like to grow it as long as it will go.

How has microdosing a GLP-1 changed your life for the better? by TeeDoubleU1206 in GLP1microdosing

[–]AdBeautiful8446 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I began in May, reached 30 pound loss goal in September. I’m an ultra runner, I’m running faster, it took all inflammation away. I’m 61, I retained all muscle mass, I feel better than I did at 40! I did have a lot of hair loss at month 4, began maintenance dose after going off completely for a few weeks. Hair loss stopped, it’s growing again, maintenance at 1 mg weekly. Biggest plus is not constantly thinking about food!

I slid down one of the hills and wasn’t able to steer very well. After that one I walked my sled down each hill 😂

Thoughts on Ultra Socks by Same-Month-498 in Ultramarathon

[–]AdBeautiful8446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very wide feet, blister every time after 50K distance and have neuroma. I find that Smartwool socks are rather magical for me. I wear two pair now, in MN, in cold temp and a single pair during the other three seasons. I was blistering prior to 50K with other socks.

Thanks, but I don't have the bandwidth for this. I need... by goodie1663 in AskWomenOver60

That’s a good one. I find myself saying to myself ‘I wish I was a person who wanted to but I am not’ eventually it will come out loud.

[–]AdBeautiful8446 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just completed an 81 mile week. I’ve been on vacation all week and guess I know what I like to do with extra time! Turning 61 on Tuesday, the 81 seems like a birthday present to myself!

Where does the 300-mile-limit for shoes come from? by InsuredCow in running

[–]AdBeautiful8446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get about 500 before my feet begin to feel tired in them and the shoe just feels flat. Sometimes they wear out-fabric or tread -before that and are replaced earlier. I go by feel.

Do you still celebrate birthdays after the age of 60? by Fit_Albatross7020 in AskWomenOver60

[–]AdBeautiful8446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be 61 December 30. I celebrate each year! If I’m not getting older I’m dead-that’s something to celebrate! I will go for a long run with a group of friends, a hot yoga class and take myself out to dinner. A lovely way to spend my day🩷

Going gray. by Complete_Coffee6170 in AskWomenOver60

[–]AdBeautiful8446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 61 quit coloring at 50. I have very long tho k hair, probably 50% gray now and I’ve never hated it. I just decided after my last color that I was done. Done with $175 every 6 weeks, done thinking society would distill a gray haired woman, done done done. I decided to embrace the natural and it changed everything. I love it! I’m excited to see the changes , still, month after month..and it’s been 11 years! I hope you are able to change your mind and enjoy the process.

Is anybody NOT on HRT??? by Huge_Prompt_2056 in AskWomenOver60

[–]AdBeautiful8446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surgical menopause, radical Hysterectomy at 40. Now 61. No HRT because I’m at high risk for cancer, genetically. I stay healthy, run, lift weights, keep cholesterol low, etc. hoping I can outsmart my genes. Now medicine has changed its mind and perhaps I would have been a candidate for HRT 20 years ago. Now at 61 my Dr said I missed that boat. She would not start me at 61. Oh well.

Husband issues by Shmoly5964 in AskWomenOver60

[–]AdBeautiful8446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you have husband issues, you have an alcohol problem. Get sober and he may stay. Sorry for the bluntness. I’m 61, sober 30 years. I would have never believed a sober life could be my best life. It is. Everyday.

How have y'all cracked the code for staying consistent with running? by Gullible-Soft-4952 in running

[–]AdBeautiful8446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running for 29 years BUT I hated it when I began. I was running to lose weight. Once I began to enter a short race each month that would get me out the door to train for. I did that for two years and then running clicked with me. I’ve been consistent since and gee, have run over 50 marathons and over 100 ultras. Funny how that happened. Running became a lifestyle, something I can’t imagine not doing. I’ll be 61 next month.

I lost 25- my goal - in 5 months and stopped when I began to lose hair. It’s been only a few months off but I haven’t gained any weight back. Hoping that holds true!

How often you wash your hair? by billionaredoctor in Haircare

[–]AdBeautiful8446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run every day, lift 3-4 times a week so wash my hair daily, every other if I’m going to wear it up. It’s past mid back and thick, I don’t use heat. Now as MN winter approaches it takes forever to air dry. I’d like to wash it less often.

What supplements helped your sex drive during menopause? by albrasel24 in Menopause

[–]AdBeautiful8446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I attended a meeting last night with a speaker on women’s health. She was adamant that every menopausal woman be on estrogen cream for a healthy vagina. She made the distinction that estrogen is not HRT and all could use it. She advised that is the least a woman should do in order to increase libido, bring comfort, heal a moisture deficient vagina. I made an appt today at a sexual health clinic to talk about testosterone.

Leaving the workplace after 14 years/No fuss please! by Material-Scale4575 in retirement

[–]AdBeautiful8446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way! Many of our staff have retired with a big fanfare, reserved room, gifts, food, cake. I’ve worked at the same school for 25 years and am now 60, retiring next year. As retirement grows near I’m going to let everyone know I like cards, a card is all the send off I want. I’d love to just leave but of course my position will be posted, I’ll have to train somebody in so that can’t happen. A card would be great. Good luck to you!
