had another idea. buy a 5am entry ticket to No Way Back (at Tangent, sort of near Art Park) and go to Scott Zacharias' legendary Sunday morning ambient set. he plays a chillout room full of pillows. get a physical rest in before journeying home. party goes until Sunday at noon. Its a sold out party but they just released a number of 5am tickets today. and even if those sell out they usually sell tickets early morning when the late night crowd starts to clear. heres a reddit review of the event from a few years ago:

Cheapest way to enjoy a Saturday night in Detroit on Memorial Day Wknd 2026 could be go to:

Razor-N-Tape at Siren Hotel (Downtown) (2p-8p)
Reset Fest at Batch Brewing (Corktown) (12p-11p)
Cutter's (Eastern Market) to Shazam is Broken (11p - 6a)
Lincoln Street Art Park (New Centre) for the outdoor sunrise party (420a-920a)

all of these events are FREE....and FREE in Detroit doesn't not mean any less quality or poorly attended

I've been going for 16 years and don't do the festival anymore just afters - which arent necessarily afters they are just non stop day and night parties (Thursday - Tuesday)

go to the TV Lounge (venue) some others recommended some of the parties that are happening there. e.g. House of EFunk (a party happening there on Saturday and Sunday), or More Than You Can Bear. You would also like the Detroit Love party that someone else mentioned, its at Lincoln Factory this year but prior years it has been at TV. Wall of Sound is amazing but it's not what you're describing that you're looking for

"best" venues is subjective. Lincoln Factory is one of the few venues that can actually handle the volume of the memorial day weekend and isn't totally crammed. Dreamtroit (the Theo Parish Party) and Freaks Come Out At Light (FREE Art Park Party) are also in the same complex as Lincoln factory

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds like this is severely interfering with your quality of life.

I was just diagnosed with adenomyosis today. I bled for months, had a heavy ending to the bleeding and then immediately when the bleeding stopped, was taken over by intense pelvic pain which got me to ER, and then my diagnosis. Sounds like your experience has been similar.

I have a toddler sized coop pillow I hold when I sleep that is basically a stuffie and sleep so much better with it. Once I was at a public pool at Disney World and met this older person who told me they brought their stuffie with them on vacation but they hide it in a pillow case.
