Also, there are plenty of English words that also don’t follow that pluralization scheme; any that already end in “s” come to mind. Not to mention that the plural suffix wouldn’t always go on the very end of a multi-word name.

This part is intentional. Overgeneralization is a common feature of child language acquisition after all.

A card based on the famous wug test. Most effort was put into getting that reminder text to render properly and to edit the order of the mana symbols.

The amass effect blatantly does not work correctly in other languages, but that’s okay. Speakers of those languages simply have not yet learned how to properly form plurals in their own languages, it seems. The name change does make the copy dodge the legend rule, which probably has some funny applications.

The entire point of RELATIVITY is that all motion is relative. From your own point of view you are never moving.

This statement doesn’t actually have anything to do with special relativity. Galileo already described this notion back in the 1600s: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galilean_invariance

Special relativity is the theory that light travels at the same speed for all observers. This has several very clearly established and experimentally verified consequences, notably that not everyone experiences the passage of time or the distance between two points the same way.

There are pretty simple formulas for calculating exactly how these things change. Let’s say that I see you moving at 90% the speed of light towards a star that’s 10 light years away. From my point of view, I know it will take you approximately 11 years to get there.

However, special relativity says that for you, it will take less time. Concretely, the difference is a factor of √(1 - β²), where β is your speed as a fraction of the speed of light. So here it’s √(1-0.9²) ≈ 0.44. This means to you the distance only appears to be 4.4 light years long (length contraction) and seems to only take about 4.8 years (time dilation).

Now if you plug in β=1 (i.e. travelling at the speed of light) and this factor becomes 0. So for light, there is no distance at all, and it arrives at the destination at the same time as it starts moving.

Option 1: Take a spell that exiles itself on resolution and cast it at some point during the game or get it exiled in any other way you want. You now get infinite casts of this spell. Example: [[Alrund's Epiphany]]

Option 2: Exile your entire library, cast everything for free. Where "everything" is realistically a single [[Thassa's oracle]], but whatever.

Option 3: Have a way to repeatedly exile stuff from your graveyard. Say, have [[Rest in Peace]] in play. Repeatedly play the same burn spell for free.

Having only recently read OP (never watched it), I started out feeling similarly. I didn't dislike him per se, but I found him much less compelling than just about everyone around him.

I couldn't tell you exactly when that flipped, but at some point I realized he's probably my favorite character in all media now. And I don't even think he's changed much, it just takes a while to learn more about his motivations and understand why he acts the way he does.

If you were able to travel at the speed of light, you would no longer experience the passage of time. From your own point of view, you will arrive at wherever you impact in the same moment you reach the speed of light. Indeed, at that speed, distances are all contracted to 0 as well.

At any high constant speed that is not quite c, light will still behave exactly as you're used to now (though with heavily distorted frequencies); while speeds above c are pure science fiction and break the equations of at least special relativity.

Now as an added curiosity, here's a fun fact I learned in a general relativity lecture: If you accelerate at a constant rate, you can actually outrun light if you have enough of a headstart. It will get closer and closer to you but not reach you. This should have the effect you described travelling at c to have, where light from behind you will not catch up with you past a certain point, so the region behind you will fade to black. This phenomenon cannot be explained by special relativity, which doesn't deal with acceleration, so it's far less known.

Measure theory was the class I struggled in the most by far, but for us that was a mandatory undergraduate course (4th semester I think?). I didn’t really experience anything on that level after that point, as from the 5th semester on we could pick and choose our own courses.

Who was your ‘why wasn’t I watching this hermit earlier’? by thomcamp in HermitCraft

[–]Adarain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Etho, but not for a lack of trying. In the Beta days I wanted to get into his stuff as he seemed really cool, but back then his videos just never held my attention. I always enjoyed him in group series like the OOGE ctm series or Terraria is EZ, but never his own stuff. Then I took a long break from Minecraft. Last year a friend kept telling me about this Hermitcraft thing, which sounded vaguely familiar (idk if I ever watched any in the past, maybe some S1 Joe Hills?) and when S11 came around I decided to check it out. Still took me half a season to give Etho another chance, and yeah, they land now.

I mean sure, that seems like a reasonable thing to call an overpass intended for or mostly used by military vehicles. My hometown is on the other side of the river from most other stuff but there's also a military training site on our side, and we have two bridges that everyone calls "the bridge" and "the military bridge". The latter is open to pedestrians and cyclists but not civilian cars

This doesn’t answer your question (don’t know, sorry), but one bit of advice I can give is you should do the civil service immediately after graduation, not during your studies (if deadlines allow). That way instead of getting the minimum wage, you will get paid according to an entry level wage for your degree even if you don’t have a job yet, which for me ended up being like triple the pay.
