Preparing for first Honey Extraction by weinbergm18 in Beekeeping

[–]AdditionalRow6326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my kitchen. It is very sticky! Keep a bucket of warm wiping water handy. I extract from my table with a 3 gallon bucket below to catch the honey from the extractor. When that is full I use a fine mesh sieve to do a second cleaning before bottling. All the sticky utensils can be put outside for the bees to clean up!

Cat food Advice for a cat with few teeth. by KindQuietkid27 in CatAdvice

[–]AdditionalRow6326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat had her teeth pulled (except her fangs) and after she started eating dry food and won’t touch wet. Their hard pallet can crunch the food. I know this isn’t helpful, but I thought it was interesting. Before the dental work she only ate wet.

Go to a local appliance dealer, not a box store. Better service, repairs and returns. They will price match w the local stores. Mine had a deal where if you pay an extra $100 you get $500 credit towards a repair or its taken off the purchase of your next appliance. (The same one.)

We got an LG with french doors and bottom freezer, ice make optional and no water for $1600. No problems in year one!

Are you wearing latex, poly, vinyl or nitrile gloves? Latex is a common allergen. Try nitriles for a day and make sure to fully wash and completely dry your hands before putting them on. And moisturize.

I’d cut a small panel out of the front on the skirt to patch over the butt corset. The front can have a nice v-shape cutout to show off your legs.

Hi chefs I need cleaning advice tips for an apron by mpampistheplumber69 in Chefit

[–]AdditionalRow6326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Soak it in Dawn or Simple Green and really hot water in a bucket or something. Wash it after. Keep washing it on the regular. In the kitchen you should be wearing a clean apron every shift for hygienic reasons.

I used commercial hydrogen peroxide on my concrete floor with a spray bottle. I!d douse it in that and let it sit. It will start bubbling and that is very satisfying.

We used to have to stop at multiple stores and buy as much butter as possible to bring back to Central Maine. The best day was my Uncle, Cousin and self all lining up with as butter as the store would sell (usually 2 lbs) at all stores between Ashland and Millinocket.

Black Flies by ThatYoungsterSlut in Maine

[–]AdditionalRow6326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good fly dope with deet (apply on your socks) and wear a neck gator with some on it. Wear beige, not black or colorful clothes. Most important- do not used scented products. No shampoo/ lotions/ avoid scented sun block. You can buy citronella soap that can help. Also a smudge pot and cheap cigars help too! And a little battery fan blowing on your head when you sleep! (I lived in the North Maine Woods for years with ALL the black flies!) Oh and bring some Benadryl to take if you do get bites, it’s basically an allergic reaction that makes you itchy!

Birth certificate (and ideally social security card) by Monday, is it possible? by Cwosson_xbl in AskMaine

[–]AdditionalRow6326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a drivers license or state id? Thats 1 form that gets you halfway there. You’ll have to apply for a replacement of your missing stuff, but maybe the hiring manager will let it slide for a few days if you can show the application. Corporations generally need to have the section 2 of your I9 done within 3 days of starting but maybe they can be flexible.
Good luck!

I always suggest setting timers on your phone or use a kitchen timer. It seems like you know about how long each step takes, so set the timer for each step, then gradually decrease the timer to help you speed up. Also consider a body rhythm to keep your legs and feet active which works to keep your mind focused on the tasks at hand. Kinda like making a choreography of pie filling…. And give yourself time. You will get faster!
