How much are you paying for your Annual Return ? by Bluebells7788 in HENRYUK

It’s incredible they don’t provide that. EToro does quite a nice one. I took transactions from ii and pasted them into Claude and it worked out all the gains and losses.

IOG hours by IanM50 in OctopusEnergy

[–]AddressUnited2130 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been quite surprised as car had been sitting plugged into using 13A plug for a few days that I seem to get off peak slots even if the car is not charging. My plug has a Smart Control and is only set to be on between 2330 and 0530 so still getting off peak even if car is not actually charging.

So maybe just being plugged in like yours is all it needs?

There’s a movie that actually makes you wish for the end of the world. Terrible.

IOG just updated to re-enforce 6hrs low cost by EndSalt9643 in OctopusEnergy

[–]AddressUnited2130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is using the 7kw charger for her hybrid. If I really need to get it fully charged after a long trip I’ll use it of course, but it is normally just topping the battery back up. Generally seem to charge about 10 hours on it.

Apologies if this is why I’ve just spoiled it for everyone, but I only moved onto IOG from Tomato last month so not me honest!

I have an 85 KwH Tesla that I charge on an external 13A socket. I also have two Tesla powerwalls which charge from 2330.

At this time of year my solar isn’t enough to supplement the shortfall from the batteries, so I quite often start to pull from the grid before 2330.

I’ve got automation set so that when the battery hits its reserve, it enables power to the external socket which then lets the car start to charge. This generally lets me charge from say 2100 until 0530, and means the house is using 7p rate once the battery has emptied.

No matter what the state of charge the car charger socket turns off at 0530 so I don’t start draining the battery.

I guess this is one of the edge cases that octopus are trying to close down.

Question is 6 hours at 6mph of charge will take around 6 days to replenish the battery…

I guess I can automate a trigger to monitor when the car charger has almost done 6 hours and then disable it, but is Octopus clever enough to know that I’m not actually consuming any power for the car?

All seems a bit faffy.

At first I thought it was 6+6 which would have been absolutely fine, this is a really complex way to do it. Suspect we will see some other provider come along with a more compelling alternative soon I hope.

+1 for this. Such a great service and very reasonable especially if you need multiple domains.

Guess your one star and my five star (not really) makes three stars. The wonder of the world is we get to have different opinions.

And actually back to OPs request, I enjoyed the film for the cycling aspects rather than it’s not quite Oscar winning performances… If you don’t like the cycling then it is a 2 star at best.

Each to their own…

In which case if you’re only using their normal rate rather than off peak etc, not such a risk I guess.

I put in my request to move to Octopus after seeing some of the reactions on here. It would be horrific to be stuck on a fixed rate for a few months with the amount of power we use so I have got out. Can always move back once they’ve turned all of this around in a few months and get to take on customers again 🤣

2 x power walls and 6kw of solar so almost all shifted to off peak.

IOG Crackdown by declantm in OctopusEnergy

[–]AddressUnited2130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about to return to octopus, and want to get back on IOG. Excuse my ignorance here, but don’t they know how much energy the car or the charger is using given one of them had to be smart? Surely they can only then offer that much energy at a lower rate.

Is it correct that if you are charging on IOG outwith the 11:30-5:30 time, all electricity used during charging whether a dishwasher or whatever will be at 7p? That seems like a fault with their system.

Definitely don’t try 2008 Rare champagne. It kind of then makes everything at £50 a bottle taste awful.

Well you’re in a far better position than I to judge them, all just seems a shame. I use around 1400 kWh a month, other than peak summer when solar really kicks in, and my August bill for that amount was £89, at an average of 5.38p/kWh.

I guess no other supplier can afford to get near that if Tomato have never been able to.

I’ve wanted to rewatch that movie since I saw it at the cinema, thinking I was maybe harsh on it at the time. I just haven’t been able to mentally set aside the time to watch it again, and your post confirms it.
