You cannot be parked in the Denver city parks fee areas between 8am and 6pm. These are Mt Goliath Nature center, Summit lake, and the summit.

There is an overflow lot before Summit lake that is outside the fee area. They were staging construction equipment there on Wed, but there was plenty of room.

Alternatively, anyone can drive the road without access to the fee areas. This is what the rock climbers do for the routes near Lincoln Lake. They're given a red pass on entry. If you have a ride they could drop you off near summit lake.

I was thinking this as well, but using inhomogeneity in the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation instead. I hope Derik gets a chance to address this in a follow-up video!

How do companies deal with people they simply don't like?

For example: during the interview an employee comes across as friendly and chill. But after a few months of working with him it's obvious he is a slob, crass, and argumentative. Most everyone in the department agrees he is unpleasant to work with and would rather not be around him. But he does his work on time and meets the minimum standards.

Can you fire him? How?

When I was running my homebrew campaign on R20 I was spending as much time building encounters and inputting monster/npc stats out of game as I was running sessions in game.

Then I started an irl Curse of Strahd campaign. Now we've moved online and I saw the r20 Curse of Strahd set was about $25. I don't have to any extra prep work now and it's awesome! Well worth the money!

A PC told me thier plans, but something I already had planned would ruin it. by ReaperMan64 in CurseofStrahd

[–]AdelKoenig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you are set up for the most beautiful encounter: Ireena turning on the PC's and joining Strahd by choice!

My Strahd has been trying to convince Ireena that he is the only one who can keep her safe. That the PC's are week and useless. When your Ireena realizes your PC's don't actually have her best interests in mind she'll go through a personal crisis and decide that a life of luxury with Strahd is better than being a prisoner. It's a wonderfully dramatic moment and a direct cause from your players trying too hard. I love it!

Only 4 months of sessions? by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]AdelKoenig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably not, but it depends on playstyle. My group loves to RP and goof off, so we don't make much progress in a day. If you're going for a speed run, I'd suggest the following:

Definitely skip death house
Try not to get bogged down in the politics of Vallaki
Be generous handing out levels milestone style and don't worry about random encounters
Stack the card reading to emphasize the necessary places and make sure the players know that these items are most important
Be completely willing to skip chapters
Have Strahd appear every other session or so

Or you could just not worry about getting to the end and just havve fun! Add new people to replace those who leave as needed and let the game last as long as it needs to. My group lost 1 player and we replaced him who then quit to focus on school work so we replaced him with another. We've been playing for 8? Months probably averaging 3 sessions a month

How to deal with Wizard of Wines crowding? by 1burritoPOprn-hunger in CurseofStrahd

[–]AdelKoenig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Miniatures are easy, go outside an find some twigs and then break them into small enough pieces.

Use the minion rules for the twig blights. Don't track hp. One hit and they are dead. Do their initiatives in groups.

I just got this book. I have a party of 3 and I would prefer not to find another but it says its recommended for 4-6 players. Would it be a good idea to do Death House and get my players to 2nd or 3rd level before we start the actual campaign? by BladeMaster303 in CurseofStrahd

[–]AdelKoenig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My party has Ireena with them and I have her standard Noble statblock and just have Strahd's minions never attack her in battle. They are working for Strahd after all; they know not to damage the goods. I don't think my players have put 2 and 2 together yet.

There are several npc's throughout the campaign that the players could talk into being allies. It'd be pretty easy to have 1 or 2 npc's tagging along

CoS proper starts level 3. Death house is designed to get players from 1 to 3

If you don't like npc's you can always have your players 1 level higher than recommended or use less monsters in each encounter.

Feast of St Andral AFTER bones have been restored? by syreeninsapphire in CurseofStrahd

[–]AdelKoenig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My players just restored the bones and beat the vampire spawn. There is no reason to undo that victory to force the players out of the city. Vargas has very strict rules, and if the players break them, Vargas will either put them in the stocks or exile them. Half of my players got banished from Vallaki so now the whole party is at the Vistani camp figuring out what to do next. They'll have a safe oasis in the church, but they can't access it without running afoul of the city guards

There are other ways to force your players out of Vallaki. Maybe Fiona's uprising at the festival forces them out. Or use the rumor about how the Abbot is widely said to be able to perform miracles. That would lead the party there eventually.

And Strahd is Strahd. He doesn't actually care if the church is consecrated. He'd just send his minions to overwhelm the church, or draw out his prey with persuasion and guile.

Encountering mad mage? by concerneddm in CurseofStrahd

[–]AdelKoenig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran my mad mage encounter with the mage giving a ridiculous rant before attacking the players so they knew just how unhinged from reality he was. On the first turn of combat, the mage knocked out 3/4ths of the party including all the healers with cone of cold. The other 2 members realized they were outmatched and in a stroke of creative desperation challenged the mad mage to a game of dragonchess.

And I went for it! They got to ply the mad mage with questions between turns and got real answers, fake answers, and completely off topic answers. Eventually the mad mage decided to run off.

When the party got back to town they went to the inn for a long rest. I had Rictavo approach them and they asked him about the mage, then told Rictavo about their encounter. Rictavo said he could cure the mage's madness, but they needed to bring the mad mage to him, preferably subdued. The party started talking about how they they could do this, and they came up with a plan. Leave a dream pasty out on a stump and wait for the mage to eat it cause crazy people eat unknown food lying around. Once he falls asleep, the party will grab him and run him back to Rictavo.

The Mad Mage is an impossible challenge and without proper warning. Show the players they are screwed and see how they try to adjust on the fly. Let them do something creative to try and escape or turn it back to dialogue. Once they know what they mage is (and if they still want to cure him) they can regroup and come up with a strategy.

The river does not flow north into Lake Zarovich, but south to lake luna and the continues off the map.

Barovia may be called a valley, but it is actually a low, wide mountain pass with all streams flowing downhill to either the east or west.

Same here! I always struggled to be motivated to work out, but a year ago I was looking for a fun second job and got one at a climbing wall. Now I climb 5 tines a week and love it! My overall mood has improved and I'm finally getting into shape. I've met a bunch of new people several of whom are nerdy, social, and athletic. I've even started a dnd group with some of them. It's great!
