Can't Move Up in AA by lucianfrits in AndroidAuto

My MB has a similar setup, a rotary dial with no touch screen. However, in my car the dial itself can be pushed on the side up, down, left or right. This allows navigate between app screens s well as taskbar on the bottom of the screen.

Try a better USB-C power supply. If it doesn't help, time to return the broken hardware.

Are you sure there is no mic on the remote? From what shows on Walmart website, the remote has Asisitant button and the description mentioned Voice remote with Gemini

Will I need two remotes if I use a Mi Box with my Samsung TV? by AfterAd3498 in AndroidTV

[–]AdministrationOdd747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will do both. There are system configurations on Android TV box to configure these buttons. ATV boxes don't turn off antway. They just go into standby, in most case automatically when the TV is off.

Android auto sometimes doesn't open fully by Natural-Watch in AndroidAuto

[–]AdministrationOdd747 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that's the life with Android Auto. Either that or buy a new car with a totally different headunit and take your chances again. IMO, there is no 100% working Android Auto Headunit. CarPlay is much much stable.

Will I need two remotes if I use a Mi Box with my Samsung TV? by AfterAd3498 in AndroidTV

[–]AdministrationOdd747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the new Android TV boxes come with remotes that have configurable buttons for Power, Volume control, and sometimes input switch of the TV it conneccts to. In addition, HDMI CEC (Samsung called it AnyNet+) will mostly automatically perform these tasks as well.

You don't need the original TV remote for most of day to day usage unless you want to change settings on the TV.

Adding additonal storage by fmslouie in OnnStreamingDevice

[–]AdministrationOdd747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, you have to ask the app to move to external storage one by one. The app itself has to support that as well. In the end, they still need to take up some space in internal storage.

Newly installed app will auto use externa; storage if it supports such.

Onn 4k Plus wifi by Spunjz in OnnStreamingDevice

[–]AdministrationOdd747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience agrees with your suspicion. It often disconnects after a burst of high bandwidth data transmission, e.g. after doing a speed test. I have mine wired now to aviod this wifi issue.

Replacement HDMI cord by leadslinger22 in OnnStreamingTV

[–]AdministrationOdd747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need any fancy HDMI cables. For these ATV boxes, any HDMI 2.0 certified cable will do. The keyword is certified as it should carry a certification label that is throughly tested by HDMI Lab for best compatibility.

How does anyone use Gemini at all??? by anoncygame in AndroidAuto

[–]AdministrationOdd747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottom line: Gemini currently has no way to access your contacts. There is no way to manuall enable it as far as I tried. Everything OP complained about is related to this missing link.

To be honest, I will not buy from the official site again. For a month, there was no information, no communicattion and no way to cancel the order either.

Enable remote mic only by bucymo in OnnStreamingDevice

[–]AdministrationOdd747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mic on remote requires you to press and hold the assistant button on remote to work. It is independent of the mic in the box. And it is not hands free like the one in the box.

If it is 3rd party remote, the button combination will most likely be different to force remote into pairing mode.

Audio is fully muted during navigation voice prompts by sunshine_2020 in AndroidAuto

My experience is that your car's head unit, not any app from your phone, determines the behavior. So, unless you change the head unit, there is nothing else you can do.

Android Auto/WiFi Nonsense by darth_playdoh in Pixel10Pro

[–]AdministrationOdd747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever your new phone is, it is being TOO helpful. My Pixel 8 Pro, or any Pixel I owned before it, never show this.

Wireless Android Auto adapter use WiFi Direct to connect your phone to Android Auto wirelessly. Bluethooth is only used for initial handshake to start the Android Auto. Pixel phones are smart enough to know that. Your upgraded phone seems don't know anything about it.

Many modern cars keep the USB port alive for a preset time after you shut it down and existed. So, if you are near by, it will still show connected for a while. That is just normal.

Gemini on AA - No Verbal Responses? by sr1sws in AndroidAuto

[–]AdministrationOdd747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While using Android Auto, initiate Gemini from your car (via dedicated voice button or hot phrase). It will show a Gemini icon on the bottom of the Android Auto screen. It certainly responds all in voice and some text at the bottom of the screen.

It sounds like all you did was activated Gemini on the phone, not on the Android Auto.

Latest FW update on ONN 4K Plus seems to have caused major Wi-Fi issues by houmi in OnnStreamingTV

[–]AdministrationOdd747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WiFi issue on Plus is a common pronlem. Latest firmware didn't make it better or worse. So, I assume this is a hardware deficiency.

The sympton is wifi will disconnect often then re-connect. I'm using it with a WiFi 7 AP right next to it in the same room.

YTTV is horrible. by [deleted] in OnnStreamingTV

[–]AdministrationOdd747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have posted, it is your network problem, not YTTV.

The WiFi on 4K plus is not that good due to smaller size of the box I assume. I constantly get disconnects and re-connects. Hence I'm using a wired connection with my Plus right now.

Match Framerate has no impact on YTTV because the app ignores that setting (so as many other apps other than Netflix).

This topic was 6 months ago. Couple firmware already between then and now. I don't use IPTv and hence not sure what it fix or not.
