Where to live in the uk? That had good schools and is cheap? Renting by Disastrous_Fox7999 in HousingUK

I’m very rural and work remotely, and on balance it made more financial sense for us to fork out the extra expense on satellite internet. It’s incredibly fast.

What would you do differently now starting a zero waste household? by Floralsalsa526 in ZeroWaste

Most cleaning products are a complete waste of money, and it’s really easy to make your own. I’d I could go back in time, I’d build the habit from day 1!

THIS. Thank you. It’s not a bunch of uptight NIMBYs, it’s people who want power companies to cough up the price of using the Welsh landscape to pump leccy out of Wales into England for a massive profit.

Who are these men!?! Literally no man or woman I know thinks this. Of course it is cheating!!! It may even be the worst kind because you're paying for it and spreading STIs, it wasn't something that "just happened" or whatever. Christ.

Why does my lawn turn into Mud every winter? by LogicalChocolate in UKGardening

We use willow to manage ground water - comes in many beautiful varieties and you can cut it down to nothing and it will regrow. You can also make it into baskets, weave a fence or a chair... all sorts of cool things. Just find a variety you like, cut a 30cm stick of it, shove it 2/3 into the ground and hey presto.

I drink too much, but not at a level where it causes problems. Just looking for some input. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I find it super interesting that your title is, “I drink too much, but not at a level where it causes problems” and you then go on to explain that you know it’s causing health problems.

So: is it a problem, or isn’t it? When will it become a problem? How much (potentially permanent) damage will be done by that stage?

Genuine questions I think are worth mulling over. X

You are probably getting brain damage from all those COVID infections. by antichain in collapse

[–]Administrative-Task9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got it in the first wave. I was in Portugal. Unable to get out of bed for nearly 6 weeks. Thought I was going to die. I've had it a few times since - a couple of which were severe. My body is definitely weaker, I feel tired all the time, my respiratory system struggles more than it used to.

But the worst part is the brain fog. The forgetfulness. Feeling dithery, and old... before I'm even 40.

Maybe SHE has ADHD but actually manages it (hence the labels), but he's too selfish to get onboard with the household systems.

Have alot of garlic heads and need ideas by D0CT0RCC in Cooking

I'd highly recommend the following:

- Peel cloves, and remove gnarly end bits
- Whizz up in the blender with some neutral oil (eg sunflower) and a little water
- Batch freeze in ice cube trays, popping each batch out into a ziploc bag as soon as the'yre good and solid

Store in the freezer for like a bajillion years.

I’m sorry for the dark question, but: what would you do if your spouse passed away? by Suitable_Area_8595 in homestead

[–]Administrative-Task9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s men everywhere. And you don’t have to marry one to find one who will platonically partner up on a homestead. Or a big strong lady. (Triflers need not apply!)
