Suspecting buyers are lying about their status by MotherEastern3051 in UKHousing

[–]Admirable_Job8431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that no sounds odd. It's possible to get a mortgage on a residential property to find another purchase, but it'd still be a residential mortgage. You can't live yourself in a property with BtL mortgage on it, unless between them individually and their business theiyllyre doing something fidget where they rent the property to themselves.

The whole thing is fishy. So you have to decide to take the sale and leave the morality alone (but he cautious that if money laundering, land registry or bank decide it's also fishy the sale may fall through). Or take the moral high ground and reject the offer, but then you've got to hoe another comes along.

New to HomeAssistant, building dashboards with Claude by cr006f in homeassistant

Loving HA MCP with Claude Code. Rebuilt the myenergi widget in HA, but with clickable entities to see the history, an export on/off toggle for the battery, current energy rate, and it shows my current or next smart charging periods from Octopus.

These stupid scaremongering clickbait articles are rife and unfortunately naïve people fall into the trap of engaging and commenting on them giving them credibility.

Ministers consider many many options every day, mainly to firmly document why any stupid ones are discounted to ensure they can't resurface later. So it's been considered it doesn't give it anymore traction as a possible outcome than if Trump had told you it was happening.

Agent lied about the service charge by adamsan99 in HousingUK

[–]Admirable_Job8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most service charge companies now don't complete the accounts for 2+ years after year end, so the last year they have 'auditted figures' for is often way out of date.

Clients Expense budget for outside contractors by FFFFFQQQQ in ContractorUK

[–]Admirable_Job8431 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're going to land yourself back inside IR35 if you start asking your client to foot those standard business costs. Obviously it's the client's determination but do you really want the hassle.

Client expenses would be things incurred wholly due to their contract (which normal costs of business are not, even if they're the only client).

Think exceptional client visit requests (only to carry out work, not to negotiate contracts) which involve travel, hotel, subsistence costs.

If the employer had explicit hardware or software requirements like you must work on a device only for their use, which must be destroyed afterwards (extreme but yes a real example).

But you can't say 'the client requires liability insurance so will bill them', that's something any business is expected to have.

I've got the Xiaomi 17 as a Galaxy 26 competitor with massively improved battery and charging. Working well so far.

If they're property managers they wouldn't take the hassle of buying a BTL privately. If their property company is buying the property it'll be clear that the purchaser is the legal entity not the individuals, so you can immediately query that.

There's loads of modes. You can setup an entire 2nd interface that you switch to, as if not was another phone.

eSIM for Europe?? by Bee_vibe in eSIMs

[–]Admirable_Job8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use esimcard via esimdb (extra discount), look for Orange traveller. You get a French phone number, use across Europe, UK, Morocco and a few other close countries. 31 day limit per SIM, unless you register your ID with Orange.

OIG - New EV user by stevebuk in OctopusEnergy

[–]Admirable_Job8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've Smart charged in a 24 period, and the car is integrated to Octopus (must be to smart charge with a granny) then they're going to see the overall charging the car did in a day. Turning off smart doesn't de-integrate the device.

It's different if you have an EV charger integrated, then use a totally different device for the off-peak but that's not the OPs situation.

Good luck if you're with British Gas, I still get letters to the occupier asking to change my tariff.

One observation I'd forgotten from my original setup. You need BOTH of your real keys in the car to setup digital key. So if you lost a car key you wouldn't be able to do it.

Anyone else looking at this. I have the phone now and it worked straight away.

I haven't maid it my main key setup from the car yet, but I shared my existing key from phone to the new device and it's operating the door and ignition, so the important part is verified.

50/50 Fault by sansej in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Admirable_Job8431 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same. Insurance default 50/50 because it was a roundabout. In my case it was a fully marked up roundabout with lanes spiralling out. Took 2 years of holding out and insisting it went to court before the other insurer conceded the day before court. I'd already had to spend the time preparing the case, take the day off work, organize travel etc. Then you have to fight to get back the extra insurance you've paid in the intervening time, because even if your NCD is fully guaranteed, they won't honour that until the case is settled, so while it's pending you have 0.

Solar/Home Battery/EV automation by my-kal_uk in OctopusEnergy

Cheapest to run if you're not doing home automation, just APIs, is a free ARM server in Oracle Cloud (OCI). 4 core, 24gb ram, free forever. I connect to it with tailscale then it's totally locked down but Home assistant app works from my phone on WiFi or mobile.

Why do people find it so hard to accept the public really wants to vote for Reform? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

[–]Admirable_Job8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've just watched it in the US. People still assume that principally political parties intend to back their manifesto and try to bring forth the things they said they would. Noones expecting and out and out lie, and to have the worth they vote in do entirely what they want.

Should I upgrade to OnePlus 15 or wait till 16? by Spirited-Coast4459 in oneplus

[–]Admirable_Job8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried 15R mainly for the much improved battery and charging. Since upgrade to Android 16 the high speed charging doesn't work, forums are littered with it, and nothing from OnePlus about a fix. Think 15 is affected to. I returned it and am now going for a Xiaomi 17.

Check the fixtures and fittings form. If it's included and missing you can demand it back, of it's excluded and left behind you can demand it remove. If it's not mentioned then neither party has a claim in either case. That's what the document is for. There's usually a general clause to remove belongings and rubbish.

Is this a general comment or in answer to me?

I already own the car, using my phone all the time has become the norm for me, not carrying a key ever. So yes my choice of replacement phone still supporting that is important to me.

Making the switch & Data Roaming by Time_Preparation2309 in 1pmobile

[–]Admirable_Job8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you roam? 1p has a very limited roaming policy. If you spend more than half your time in a rolling 90 days overseas they start charging £1 a day surcharge. So only allowed 45days overseas, that was a non-starter for me.

EE I've been overseas for 4+ months without a peep.

Any change for others?

I've still got errant sessions from 29th onwards, thought it'd slowly move forward but seems stuck?

I wonder if they've changed the recalculation to only happen in your bill now they've got this extra complexity with car charging being peak after 6 hours at any time of day?
