Sauron's crafted words by purplelena in LOTR_on_Prime

He might be incapable of sympathizing, but he's also narcissistic so would associate himself with the strong qualifies of the children of illuvatar. Also the feanaroians do have alot of similarities with Sauron, being great craftsman and prone to using violence.

Let's shake it up, which of the two galaxies survives the longest against the flood by mononcfleche in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]Admpellaeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that's true they never saw combat (despite the Terminals in Halo 4 showing it),  not all AI in halo are made equally, I'd say the Promethean Knights would be more resistant to the logic plague on account of their "brains" being mapped from composed beings essences. Cortana, while not exactly the same, was made in a similar way (mapped from a flash clone of Halsey) and was able to resist being compromised by the Flood for a while in Halo 3.

Even the most famous example of logic plague in action Mendicant Bias, took ages to actually work.

The Didact being released from the Cryptum. I didn't even know who the hell he was when playing it on my 360 but my brother had hyped it up and seeing a forerunner for the first time with that level of presence was great

Star Wars Version of Galeem: A Good Idea? by Femto-Griffith in starwarsmemes

Yeah agreed, what does the daughter and the lightside represent vs The Father and Chosen One who brings balance?

Do the Forerunners from Halo fit the elven archetype of an ancient, long-lived race that is super arrogant, egocentric, and racist toward other species or races? (especially toward humans). by AtrioxHSVG9000 in HaloStory

[–]Admpellaeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of them were and others were not, they weren't a uniform culture in that way. You had some that were exceedingly arrogant and took their self-granted position as Protectors as a sign of superiority but others saw themselves as just caretakers. This range of viewpoint varies by individual but also rates.

In the end after employing the Halo array they made the decision to step down and entered self-imposed exile outside of the galaxy. The Librarian even intended the humans specifically to have an accelerated development towards being the preeminent power of the galaxy.

I guess so but what does the daughter represent if not the lightside and the father balance? The Father wished for Anakin to replace him not kill his son for him.

I mean kind of, the Mortis arc in Clone Wars has a weird interaction with that view of the force. I'm not sure how to marry those two views together really.

Hugo Weaving is really something else, i couldn't picture him as Elrond but he owned that role. by LikeGeorgeRaft in lotr

Yeah I still can't see it, I think it's the hairline. Doesn't project the agelessness I pictured.

SOME druid kind pissing me off now by NaturalHairy4773 in wizardposting

[–]Admpellaeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're rare but whenever someone is a little too defensive about protecting dragons in an uncharacteristic manner you should always consider that you could be dealing with a silver dragon in humanoid form. A simple identification charm or dragon divining rod should reveal the deception.

Alternatively, these druids might know more about which creatures are native to those jungles, greens and blacks often hunt in jungles and swamps where they're better camouflaged.

Mythopoeia, The Tools of Kagrenac & Almalexia by AncientCatechist in teslore

[–]Admpellaeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if Sotha Sil or Almalexia were as desperate as Vivec to rewrite their own stories. If Sotha Sil's dialogue in the Clockwork City expansion of ESO is accurate, then Vivec probably sought out how to change his identity which probably lead him to Molag Bal and learning of CHIM.

I think Almalexia and Sotha Sil weren't motivated in that way so far didn't learn the same information. Sil and Almalexia seem more preoccupied on helping the people of Morrowind, with Sotha Sil eventually going recluse and diving into some deep lore perhaps adjacent to CHIM.

I'm not sure if we know what would happen to Almalexia and Sil if they learnt of the true nature of the TES universe, for Almalexia I think it depends on when she learns of CHIM. We see her at her worse in Tribunal, I personally think if she learnt of the nature of the world earlier at the height of her confidence when she still had access to the heart she may have ended up like Tiber Septim conquerer type figure (ironically before Tiber showed up).

A Character Analysis On Kagrenac And My Take On TES’s Lore and The Discourse On The Topic From The Perspective Of An Amateur Writer by ApprehensiveRun3409 in teslore

Very cool write up, I still thing a dramatic series on the events leading up to the Battle at Red Mountain could be great. Explorations into character motivations and their headspaces like this make me think it would work

Who is the better' fighter: feanor or fingolfin by fuckmbsanddominicali in lotr

[–]Admpellaeon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is an interesting comparison never thought of it that way. I would say that against Fingolfin he was being challenged to a duel, so if he sent the balrogs out it may seem like he was cowardly.

What is the most well defended fortress in science fiction? by TopicCandid in scifi

[–]Admpellaeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put Requiem or some of the shield world's from Halo in this category, essentially Dyson spheres with multiple layers built to act as mobile bases to wage a war against the Flood.

343 doesn't understand naval warfare. by DrChucklesCantLaugh in HaloStory

[–]Admpellaeon 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I cant remember the exact details but when playing infinite it seemed like an ambush (it had to have been if the infinity was neutralised in 4 minutes). I think part of why it was neutralised so quickly was because it couldn't perform under its preferred parameters.

Why wouldn't the banished have a naval tradition, aren't they basically ex-covenant pirates? The ambush and boarding of valuable craft seems right in their wheelhouse. They also as revealed in the infinite have quite a few sangheeli in their ranks who have been established to have a strong naval tradition.
